| Beautiful! I spent a lot of hours and did a lot of online searches to fix this annoying little bug, but nothing worked until your quick & clean little solution. at this point it looks like my problem is solved...the only twist i needed to throw in was that "investment Y" was listed as a Mutual Fund and "investment Z" was a stock, so i just had to temporarily change Y to a Stock (in Investment Details) in order to do the Combine With. after i combined, i changed Y back to a mutual fund. i have done two updates since then and the pesky 35 share position matching thing has yet to appear. thanks Cal! Let's assume that you have that investment properly defined and that> that investment only had 15 shares up until last week and this issue has been > going on for several months. you have the Buys or AddShares to get you to 35. If not, check back. If so, let's call that investment Y, and the one you want to be rid of Z. Go to the Details of the investment Z (right-click a reference and choose GoToInvestment). Do a CombineWith to Y. Expect to get a note that the combined investment will be treated as a new investment upon subsequent download. Expect to find only surviving investment in the registers. - quote - > i'm using Money Premium 2007
That simplifies the solution.- quote - > "Cal Learner-- MVP" wrote: > > I assume that you mean that the AddShares gets put into the Fidelity > > account. > > > What I expect happened is that at some point you told Money that > > that thing that was downloaded from Money was the same as Z-- where > > Z represents that investment that shows thirty five shares. > > > What I suggest you do is to go to the Fidelity web page positions, > > and look for any positions that you do hold 35 shares of. > > > If my suspicion is correct, the preferred fix will vary according to > > the version of Money you are using. > > |

What I expect happened is that at some point you told Money that that thing that was downloaded from Money was the same as Z-- where Z represents that investment that shows thirty five shares. What I suggest you do is to go to the Fidelity web page positions, and look for any positions that you do hold 35 shares of. If my suspicion is correct, the preferred fix will vary according to the version of Money you are using. - quote - > i've tried deleting the investment many times and it always appears to be > gone... it's not listed anywhere in my money file, but as soon as i do an > online update, the position matching thing happens all over again. > i've deleted the investment in every way that i can think of...the most > recent method is to add the same investment manually with the ticker symbol > then merge the the problematic investment(which does not have a symbol) with > it, then: 1)delete the symbol, 2)delete the transaction, 3)use the option to > "delete an investment from all accounts. > no matter what i try, this investment keeps coming back.... my investments > are held at Fidelity and they don't have this investment on any of my > statements. |

| I had a few investments in a watch account and deleted them all several months ago. for some reason i can't get rid of one of them. every single time i do an online update, my investment account shows a "Transaction to Review". I click on the link to review and it brings up the "Review investment holdings" page...everything is fine here, so i click next. at this point i get the "Posistion Matching" window which says: "The positions reported on the mm/dd/yyyy statement don't match those in your Money account. Do you want Money to update your account to match the statement?" ...and it lists the investment showing that i have 0 for my account quantity and next to it is the "Statement Quantity" which shows 35 shares. There are two options: "Yes, update my positions as indicated below." "No, do not update my account. I will make the necessary changes myself." If i choose "No", it's fine and nothing changes in my account....but every single time i update my account, i get the same problem. if i choose "Yes", the investment will be added to my portfolio (without a symbol) and the new shares throw off all my balances. i've tried deleting the investment many times and it always appears to be gone... it's not listed anywhere in my money file, but as soon as i do an online update, the position matching thing happens all over again. i've deleted the investment in every way that i can think of...the most recent method is to add the same investment manually with the ticker symbol then merge the the problematic investment(which does not have a symbol) with it, then: 1)delete the symbol, 2)delete the transaction, 3)use the option to "delete an investment from all accounts. no matter what i try, this investment keeps coming back.... my investments are held at Fidelity and they don't have this investment on any of my statements. |
