I don't know if this is your problem, but:

1) Copy the .MNY file from the CD to the hard disk in the directory where
you want it to be (My Documents is a **very good idea**).

2) Then make sure in its file properties that it is not set to Read Only.

3) Finally, do NOT try to "import" it from Money. Just double-click on the
file and Money should take it from there.

I was having some problems with my computer and so I had
to reformat the hard drive. I saved my entire money file
on a CD and when I reloaded money and tried to import that
backup, it gives me an error message saying that the file
is not a .mny file. I have several years of money on this
CD...help. It is an older version of money.
