Default Re: Money 2002 New Online Setup Disabled?

Just wondering ... since I would think it MUST work on even a secure PC.

Did you try:
change date to 2003
turn off network.
Reboot.
Start ( install) Money
Set up account ???
===========================

Once account info on PC ....
For my Bank/brokerage accounts I can also go to their website and download
the account/history files and save as OFX file on my Pc . I then OPEN
Money and import.

Would that STILL require connection to msft home server to 'validate' ?

BTW I think for all versions, that " how long is it good for ?" info is in

Thanks for that info! I found what I think you refer to here:
http://www.microsoft.com/money/Produ...ve_tab=Compare

"Important Limitations and Notices:

1. For Money Essentials, online services are available for one (1) year
after activation of Microsoft Money Essentials or September 1st, 2008,
whichever is earlier. For all other Money 2007 products, online services are
available for two (2) years after activation of Microsoft Money 2007 or
September 1st, 2009, whichever is earlier. Online services for all Microsoft
Money 2007 products are subject to limited availability and include, but are
not limited to the abilities to (i) download your financial institutions
statements and obtain stock quotes; and (ii) synchronize your client-based
data with MSNĀ® Money. Certain online services and options may only be
obtained separately from your financial institution(s), with or without a
fee, so please contact your financial institution for details. Microsoft
reserves the right to modify or discontinue these online services at any
time. For all Money 2007 products except Money Essentials, see the Microsoft
Money 2007 online services policy located at
http://money.msn.com/Money/2007/OSP.asp; for Money Essentials, see the Money
Essentials online services policy at
http://money.msn.com/Money/2007/IBSP_E.asp, and in the product for details.
See http://www.microsoft.com/money/onlinebanks for a list of financial
institutions that provide connectivity to enable the download of statements
into Microsoft Money 2007. You can only perform electronic funds transfers
between accounts at the same financial institution."

Reading this, it starts to look like we no longer purchase software, but
merely rent it. Such a shame...

I expect it was not a security thing.

Microsoft Money has servers providing setup information for newer
versions. The newer versions will stop statement and quote
downloading after two years or so to "encourage" you to go to the
newer version.

I think there used to be info to that effect in a footnote on
http://www.microsoft.com/money/Produ...s.aspx?pid=003 or some
related page, but I don't seem to find it now. I am sure it is there
somewhere.

I have experienced the same difficulty. When did this occur? Is there any
way for us to set up these accounts ourselves by interacting directly with
the banking institutions and/or Money software? Does that server function
only for newer versions of Money, or was this related to a security issue,
etc?
I'd really appreciate any information as this is frustrating to me as well.
Thanks!

It could be open to semantic interpretation. To set up new accounts,
Money looks to a Microsoft server, which Microsoft stopped
providing. I guess you could call that disabled, or you could call
it not providing... but the effect is the same.

Default Money 2002 New Online Setup Disabled?

I know I'm using an OLD version but really, it works just fine. Although I
can continue to receive automatic downloads for accounts that were already
set up I can no longer set up new accounts for Online services. Does anybody
know if this feature was disabled by our friends at Microsoft or am I
missing something?

Thank you,
