Default Re: An MS Money to Quicken Conversion Tool

I guess it would be more accurate to say I prefer Quicken 2007 over Money
2007, whether or not it's better depends on the user making that
determination -- could very well change my mind when the 2008 versions come
out. My reasons:

The summary screens -- with no customization, the Quicken screens (main,
cash-flow, investments, etc) are extremely useful, having the projected cash
flow right there on the home screen is great, along with all the other
useful stuff. You have to do a lot of tweaking to get useful screens in
Money, out-of-the-box, they are there with Quicken.

Bank sync: My Bank of America (California) checking account directly
connects with Quicken, both the checking and bill-pay (which is
Checkfree) -- I'm able to initiate payments via Quicken or the B of A
website, and it all winds up in the same place. With Money, I'm able to
download transactions only (via Yodlee) from B of A; with no access to the B
of A billpay service from within Money.

Mobility: Pocket Quicken is available for my T-Mobile Dash, it's also
available for PocketPC and Palm devices. I very much like mobility with my
financial software, being able to capture transactions on the road is great.
Microsoft did away with Pocket Money a couple versions back and I began to
think about Quicken then, didn't care for the 2006 version though. The WM
Smartphone version of Pocket Quicken just came out, which prompted me to get
Quicken 07 just to have mobile access back.

Still 'curious'...? Check it out for yourself, decide on your own.

Curious to why you feel Quicken is better than Money?

Why not just start over? It's what I did... While Quicken has a few quirks
of it's own -- the 2007 version is much better than previous versions of
Quicken, and better than Money...

All this does is tell you that there exists a conversion tool from
Quicken. I've tried it maybe a year ago - it was complete garbage. The
balances came across incorrectly, I don't think it was able to match two
sides of a transaction correctly, and all sorts of other nonsense.

While it's nice that there's a way to do this at all, it's not easy or
quick, and will not be correct without considerable effort. I've not
heard of better results from other people, either.

I'd say that unless Money totally starts to blow (eg 2008 is very messed
up) this porting process isn't worth it.

Default An MS Money to Quicken Conversion Tool

as well as some advice for those making the switch (at <a href="http://
lifehacker.com/software/quicken/quicken-tip--how-to-import-your-
microsoft-money-file-to-quicken-248973.php"> Lifehacker</a> ).

Haven't made the leap yet, but if this post-server-update lack of
Banking updates continues, it seems likely.
