You could contact Microsoft, or you could work around the problemusing the return of capital method described in http://support.microsoft.com/kb/179585/en-us . - quote - > Thanks, > Miles > "Cal Learner-- MVP" wrote: > > In microsoft.public.money, Miles wrote: > > > > I receive the message "This operation cannot be performed," after I entered > > > all the information from a spin-off. Is your version 16.0.125.1303?> all the information from a spin-off. In this case, it's Disney spinning-off > Citadel, with a bit of cash left over. > The steps I took were as follows: > 1) Record a Spin-Off > 2) Entered Disney in originating spin-off field and Citadel in New Company > 3) I enter the spin-off date > 4) I enter the number Citadel shares I receive for each Disney share (.0767) > and I choose to have an adjusted cost basis for both companies > 5) I choose to replace fractional shares with cash > 6) I enter Citadel's stock price on 6/12/2007, choose OK and then get the > above error message. > I'm using MS Money 2007 Premium on Windows XP SP2 machine. If so, I would consider making a repaired version of your file with File-> RepairMoneyFile-> StandardFileRepair level 2, and see if that file has the same problem. If that is not your version, let us know. |

| I receive the message "This operation cannot be performed," after I entered all the information from a spin-off. In this case, it's Disney spinning-off Citadel, with a bit of cash left over. The steps I took were as follows: 1) Record a Spin-Off 2) Entered Disney in originating spin-off field and Citadel in New Company 3) I enter the spin-off date 4) I enter the number Citadel shares I receive for each Disney share (.0767) and I choose to have an adjusted cost basis for both companies 5) I choose to replace fractional shares with cash 6) I enter Citadel's stock price on 6/12/2007, choose OK and then get the above error message. I'm using MS Money 2007 Premium on Windows XP SP2 machine. I exited MS Money, restarted it, same problem. I exited Windows, back in, same problem. Any thoughts on why I'm getting this error? Thanks, Miles |
