For Money 2005, first see http://support.microsoft.com/kb/929427 just in case, altho the update has probably already been applied. Be sure that your Money and backup files are moved to a spot that you will have full privileges to, such as Documents/MyDocuments. If they are in a place like ProgramFiles, Vista will create an impermanent copy of the file for the user to use, unless the user explicitly right-clicks at launch and choose RunAsAdministrator that time. Check that the SSL2 protocol is enabled. That checkbox is in IE Tools-> InternetOptions-> Advanced. Install Money from the Money 2005 install disk by browsing to the setup.exe file. Right-click that file, and choose RunAsAdministrator. After install, right-click the Money icon and choose RunAsAdmistrator to let updates happen. Do not have Money open an existing file at this point. Instead have Money open Sample.mny from the install folder, or have it create a new file without Passport/LiveID (select Decline during the process. Don't bother entering data-- click to start using Money before answering questions. Then reboot the computer. Check that the Money 2005 version is 14.0.*.1105. Only then open your existing Money 2005 file that is in your Documents folder. You should not have to run as Administrator for that. |

| I recently purchased a new computer with vista and although it has money essentials I wanted to load Money 2005 that I have already been using. It appears in the list of programs installed on my new computer but whenever I try and open the program it automatically reverts to Money essentials (already on the PC) an will not recognise my id or password which I happily used before on my old PC. Any ideas? |
