| Hi Cal, Thank you. This helps. I don't have background banking on. But just curious though, why consider removing Passport? And about the "In-Product Help"offline, sorry to hear that, its not as good as 2004. But I just accidentally discovered (duh) that the "Contents", the search box to type in, "FAQs", etc., shows up only when your online. Otherwise, none of this shows up in Help. That's Dumb. Thanks again for your help. I appreciate it. "Cal Learner-- MVP" wrote: - quote - > In microsoft.public.money, Judy wrote: > > I just upgraded to Money 2007 from Money 2004. Turn off background banking at the first item on Tools-> Settings, and consider removing the Passport/LiveID if you have one. If you download stock dividends from your broker, it is probably best to disable the dividend forecast estimates from being inserted into your register for you. You can disable that forecasting with Portfolio-> ChangePortfolioSettings-> (General)NotifyMeOfDividendsForMyHolding Alternatively de-select the various dividends from being entered into the register when the DividendDistributionNotice appears at the ex-dividend day. By default, the backup of Money 2007 is much improved over 2004 in that it will make more than one backup. I suggest you raise from the default of 4 to a new bigger number. Also, I suggest scheduled backups to a USB flash drive. You will, however, have to manually trim the older files in the USB flash drive, due to a relatively harmless bug/quirk. - quote - > 2. | I just upgraded to Money 2007 from Money 2004. XPHome SP2 IE6. I usually use Money off-line. When I sign in I check the box not to connect to the internet. I have a couple questions.... for now. 1. I do not download statements or pay bills online. Is there a way to stop automatically updating (minute-wise)? I tried entering “00" but that doesn’t work. Like in 2004 I just updated manually when I wanted to updatemy portfolio and read the FYI in the portfolio or read the investing headlines or check quotes, news, etc. I don't want it to continually keep updating. 2. The Headlines for MSN Money never updates, i.e. lists any headlines. It never did in 2004 either. And most importantly, there is no off line help. 3. The On-Line User’s Guide says: In-Product Help Help window. The Help window is always accessible in Microsoft Money 2007 by clicking the Question Mark icon in the upper-right corner of the screen. To find information about a specific topic, type a word or phrase in the Search for help at the top of the Help window, and then click the arrow. Otherwise, click Contents to see a full list of available topics or click FAQs to see answers to the questions that many users have asked. I click the "?" and there isn’t any “Search for help” to type in nor is there a “Contents” or “FAQs” to click. Just a very minimal list of stuff that don’t help at all. Is the Help missing from my program? Or is there something else I have to click somewhere to make these show up? Thanks for your help. |
