| I meant to respond to your post, but as a carrier of the procrastination gene, never got around to it. If you have never resolved this, allow me to cut and paste my recent reply to another poster with this problem. I also experienced this annoyance after installing Vista, but after some experimentation, was able to resolve it by removing everything under the Registry Key "HKCU\AppEvents\Schemes\Apps\.Default\CCSelect ". I have since come across this on MSDN if you require more information: http://channel9.msdn.com/ShowPost.aspx?PostID=333197 If you feel uncomfortable editing the Registry, I or someone else can provide you with a file which will perform this for you. In control panel Sounds, I selected the "No Sounds" sound scheme and> Were you referring to the box in Tools-> Settings-> ProgramSettings > and un-checking the box, or were you referring to something you did > in Windows? then modified it so that nothing ever makes a sound. I guess Money has found a way to circumvent it by accessing the BIOS speaker or where ever it's coming from. |

Were you referring to the box in Tools-> Settings-> ProgramSettings and un-checking the box, or were you referring to something you did in Windows? Un-ticking the PlaySounds box in Tools-> Settings-> ProgramSettings will turn off some sounds, such as when you launch Money, but it does not kill the little feedback clicks and such. What you could do is to find/create a quiet.wav file, and specify that to each case that you want no corresponding sound for. You could use Sound Recorder with no microphone attached to make such a file. |

Player. Probably I could figure out if there is a way to disable the BIOS beep but that's important for over heating warnings and other things. I'd like to find out why it's only Money that keeps making this beep. |

I understand what you mean by that: a BIOS beep.> on a desktop machine from the motherboard speaker. Not a WAV sound. > Just a loud beep. If you want no sounds from Windows or applications, can't you just turn down the volume all the way? |

It isn't a Windows sound. All of the Windows sounds are turned off.> Start-> ControlPanel-> SoundsAndAudioDevices-> Sounds > In the ProgramEvents, scroll down to the MicrosoftMoney section. > You should be able select an event, and press the right-arrow > button (play button) to hear the associated sound. If an event > does not have an appropriate sound, you could change the association > by selecting a different WAV file for the event. My computer doesn't make any sounds. This is the same sound you hear on a desktop machine from the motherboard speaker. Not a WAV sound. Just a loud beep. |

You should be able select an event, and press the right-arrow button (play button) to hear the associated sound. If an event does not have an appropriate sound, you could change the association by selecting a different WAV file for the event. |

| I'm running MS Money 2004 on Vista Home Premium. When I click a stock in the portfolio view, I get a loud computer beep (not a Windows sound). I have Money sounds turned off. This is the only time I hear the loud beep. I'm running on a laptop. Any ideas on what's causing the beep and how to turn it off? |
