Some things take longer, but Money 2007 does some additional things,
such as reconciling positions. You can hide the box that says it is
updating and do a few other things in the process.

Here are a few suggestions:
Clear Portfolio-> UpdatePrices-> UpdateAutomaticallyEvery__Minutes for
better speed when entering the portfolio view.

If you download stock dividends from your broker, it is probably
best to disable the dividend forecast estimates from being inserted
into your register for you. You can disable that forecasting with
Portfolio-> ChangePortfolioSettings-> (General)NotifyMeOfDividendsForMyHoldings

Alternatively de-select the various dividends from being entered
into the register when the DividendDistributionNotice appears at
the ex-dividend day.

By default, the backup of Money 2006 and later is much improved in
that it will make more than one backup. I suggest you raise from
the default of 4 to a new bigger number. Also, I suggest scheduled
backups to a USB flash drive. You will, however, have to manually
trim the older files in the USB flash drive, due to a relatively
harmless bug/quirk.

You might want to make a copy of your Money 2007 file with a
different name, and in that copy File-> Repair-> RemoveAllBillsData.
If things speed up enough, then consider whether the speedup is
worth recreating bills.

They have tried to get rid of waste. The effect has been larger with
your file than most.

Thanks for the info. I choose the option to keep the previous version
as recommended and the installation was followed by an update to Money
2007 16.0.10.1303 version and everything appears to be OK. A welcome
relief from my attempt to upgrade to Money 2006!

A couple of questions.

1. Internet update seems to be very slow, taking much longer than with
2004. All accounts update OK. What used to take about a minute or less
with 2004 takes several minutes with 2007. Is this a normal behavior of
Money 2007?

2. My file size with Money 2004 was 27MB before the conversion. After
the conversion to Money 2007 the file size is 15MB. Everything seems to
be in the 2007 file. Is this due to the way that the MS database
operates, wasting space over the three years of use, or has there been a
change in the database system for 2007 version?

http://www.microsoft.com/money/Produ...ve_tab=Compare
lists, but does not describe. Those "***" features are services
outside the program.

They should. Pay attention during install to have the trial not
uninstall your previous version. Also, don't uninstall, unless you
are willing to have earlier versions stop working. Uninstall warns
about that, but people don't always read those things. ;-)

Default MS Money 2007 Trial Limitations question

My Money Deluxe 2004 is expiring shortly and I thought that I would try
the MS Money Deluxe 2007 trial and hope that the 2008 version is
available before the 90 day trial expires.

The MS Money Deluxe 2007 Web site states:

"The trial does not include any of the audio, multimedia or "premium
services" of the full retail version of Money 2007 Deluxe"

I don't care about the audio or multimedia stuff. Can someone tell me
what "premium services" that are not included are?

Will all of the online services of Money Deluxe 2004 work in the 2007
Money Deluxe trial version?
