Perhaps you could get that repaired, especially if it was the USB
conversion that actually failed. Some of those actually have an IDE
drive inside.

Try a different computer maybe? I am not saying it is likely to
help, but even a slim chance seems worth a try.

I'm using Money 2004. When I opened the program tonight, it said it
couldn't open my MNY file because the drive wasn't responding. I have
an external USB hard drive that I use for my financial info. I had it
disconnected and reconnected it this afternoon. I figured something
happened when I did that so I went to my back-up, which I keep on a
compact flash card. That, too, was corrupted. So here I am, thinking I
was being cautious by having two back-ups, and I'm still SOL.

It does by default. That default can be changed. Money 2006 and 2007
keep 4 by default, and that can be increased.

Did you really do a Start-> Search of your hard drives?

What happened to your *.mny file?

That was the first thing I did. No luck. I thought MS Money backed-up
on the hard drive as well but apparently I was wrong about that.

No. Search your computer for other *.mbf, *.mny files.

Default Corrupt backup file

I get an error message that says "c:\xxx.mbf is corrupted or is not a
Money backup file". Is there any hope to recovering the file?
