Default Re: Is a cash investment account necessary?

To answer the question posed in the subject: not really, but for a 401(k)
account, Money refuses to do it any other way.

The money is going out of the investment cash account since it is still
reflecting new investments and the cash for the se investments is coming
from the investment cash account. (Think of a Buy Investment/CD as being a
Transfer from cash to some other investment vehicle.)

The way to stop the cash account from going negative, typically, is to
account for the contributions you and/or your employer are making. This is
typically done with Transfer:[investment cash account] entries in Paychecks.

Default IS A CASH INVESTMENT ACCOUNT NECESSARY

My wife's employer contributes into a 401(a) investment plan for her. I have
Money 2007 which, when setting up an investment account, creates a "Cash
Account" to show the money being invested and spent to buy investments. When
this was first established the money was being invested in a different mutual
fund then it is now. For some unknown reason money just keeps showing money
going out--not being deposited. Consequently, it is deducted the total amount
invested from the total value of the account and displaying the wrong
balance. I would like to be able to correct this but I don't know how.
