Default Re: Using classification for a loan payment

How did you have it entered before? I have mine as bill and it
automatically calculates the P&I but I have to categorize it after entry
into Money

Thank you for your reply. On my system, I could not change the
classification even after the payment was in the register, but even if I
could it would be a bit of a pain doing this each time. I have changed it to
a bill payment which can be classified. It is not quite as good, but serves
the purpose for now.

You can add classification to the elements of a loan payment once it is
recorded in the register by editing the transaction, going into the splits,
and classifying the split elements. You cannot schedule classification of a
loan payment--at least not the automatically generated amortized
interest/principal transfer components. I've been asking for that ability on
wish lists back to the mid 1990s but to no avail.

I'm not sure I understand exactly what you are asking or am unsure we are
using the same terms to describe it. Does my answer make sense in the
context of the question you were asking?

Default Using classification for a loan payment

I have used the classification 'property' and set up properties withing this.
I want to assign loan payments to a particular property but Money is not
allowing me to do this. It always removes the classification which is not
helpful as I do not then get the mortgage payments in with the other property
expenses. Is there any way round this? Any help would be appreciated. Thank
you.
