| What you say is surely correct, but it's hardly Bob's material. He just uses the thing like the rest of us. "Murgatroyd" <Murgatroyd[at]discussions.microsoft.com> wrote in message news:6E919998-7319-4FA5-B79C-B562DA697A2C[at]microsoft.com... - quote - > Your material is > highly misleading. |

| If it is "in reality...a single user app", why don't the help files say so? Why don't they say "While you can securely publish your data for a spouse or partner, there is no real way to share a Money file over the Internet"? There must a dozen or two help topics that tell you how to "share" without ever explaining the limitations. I orginally bought the product so I could share data with my accountant. And yesterday, I spent a couple of hours reading the help files and registering my wife and my accountant for "sharing" only to find that I doesn't *share* at all. It only publishes. Your material is highly misleading. | In reality Money is a single user app. Yes you can share a file across a home network, but there is no "security" in terms of file locking whilst one party is updating. IF you can guarantee that "A" will never try to update while "B" is also doing so then you might get away with it but it is a big IF and be prepared for a corrupt file and have a very good backup strategy - you will need it. -- Regards Bob Peel, Microsoft MVP - Money For UK tips & fixes see http://support.microsoft.com/default...d=fh;EN-GB;mny. I do not respond to any emails that I have not specifically asked for. | There is a great deal of information in the help about sharing money files with a spouse or a partner, but it appears that "sharing" may be an overstatement. I want to be able to have both parties enter data and synchronize back and forth using Passport Network credentials. Is that possible? A post from Jan 2006 says "Nope." Has this issue been addressed in later versions? I am using Money 2005. If there truly is no way to share transaction level access to my Money file, the verbiage about sharing is misleading, and borders on fraudulent. |
