If by viable you mean good, I would think no. While it is not as easy to get to as you would like, a split is recorded in the price history. Go to the investment details. UpdatePrices-> UpdatePricesManually Look through the table and find the entries in the Source column that say "Stock Split". To record additional info for an investment, consider making a not in the Comment box in the Investment Details. |

| Re: Money 2006 Std.; I'm not comfy with the way stock splits are handled in that there is no lasting transaction record in the Investment Account Register to show date, split ratio (3-for 2; 1-for-5; 2-for-1;etc), extra memo for new certificate number, etc. I am thinking of manually entering an "Add Shares" transaction (on the record date of the split) and manually adjusting prices of holdings to reflect the new per-share price (incl. commision) & quantity. The only problem I forsee is if shares are sold before they become "long-term capital gains" I would have to manually adjust the date for the sake of the tax report. **My question: has anyone set up there accounts this way and run into any problems? Am I missing something or is this a viable alternative? |
