Note that you had not *said* you were using Norton until now. ;-)- quote - > 1) Our version of Norton AntiVirus 2005 was a download from their web site

It is referenced by http://support.microsoft.com/default...b;en-us;310560 which describes "How to Troubleshoot By Using the Msconfig Utility in Windows XP". You might like the free version of Zone Alarm or AVG( http://free.grisoft.com/) It would be an easy choice for me. - quote - > 2) The backup of the Money file is a good one - hopefully we will be able > to utilize it. > "Cal Learner-- MVP" wrote: > > In microsoft.public.money, LisaS wrote: > > > > We are trying to upgrade from Money 2004 to 2007 Deluxe (purchased CD copy > > > from a local store - not online upgrade). | Cal Learner - Thanks for responding but this won't really help. 1) Our version of Norton AntiVirus 2005 was a download from their web site - so we can't uninstall and reinstall without spending the money for an upgrade. 2) The backup of the Money file is a good one - hopefully we will be able to utilize it. | We are trying to upgrade from Money 2004 to 2007 Deluxe (purchased CD copy from a local store - not online upgrade). Even though we disabled our anti-virus software temporarily, the installation crashes because it it is not able to copy all of the necessary files to our hard drive (account on our home computer is Administrator - so that should not figure into it). Looking into the Knowledge Base (# Q313222), it recommends that we reset our Registry settings to their original values (computer was purchased in 2001 - running XP Home Edition with SP2). Naturally, I am loathe to tamper with the Registry even on a good day. The Knowledge Base also recommends copying Secedit.exe and Secedit.chm files from a computer running XP Professional to our home computer. My work laptop runs XP Professional but the two files I can fine are Secedit.chm and Secedit.sdb - not Secedit.exe. Considering that we do not want to have the installation automatically delete Money 2004 after loading 2007 Deluxe until we are sure that it will work, we are at an impasse. My wife has spent a great deal of time and effort setting up our banking and investment services under Money 2004 and I sure don't want to mess that up in any way. Can anyone out there give us some guidance? -- BobS |
