If you will run Money 2005 and 2006 on Vista, see
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/929427 and apply the Vista update.

Be sure that your Money and backup files are moved to a spot that
you will have full privileges to, such as Documents/MyDocuments.
If they are in a place like ProgramFiles, Vista will create an
impermanent copy of the file for the user to use, unless the user
explicitly right-clicks at launch and choose RunAsAdminsistrator
that time.

Make sure you are prepared to reinstall. If you purchased Money
via download, see http://support.microsoft.com/kb/889930/ . If you
have the retail disk, have it handy. Reinstall Money by running
the setup by right-clicking the setup icon and choose
RunAsAdmistrator.

Check that the SSL2 protocol is enabled. That checkbox may be in
IE Tools-> InternetOptions-> Advanced.

Right-click the Money icon and choose RunAsAdmistrator to let any
available update happen. Then reboot the computer.

Install your existing copy of M2006; copy your .mny file to the new PC - do
NOT put the .mny file in Program Files - use My Documents for example. First
time right click on the money.exe and Run as Administrator.

Default New Vista PC

I am getting a new desktop PC with Vista Premium in a few days. What is the
best way to transfer my Money 2006 to the new computer with my current
files? I currently am using XP Home edition. I still have my original
downloaded "exe" install file but do I need to download a more current one
for Vista?
