| PGA_UK By any chance did you burn your .mny file to a CD and then restore it to the hard drive after the "rebuild"? If so uncheck the "Read Only" attribute for the .mny file. That might do it. -Kevin "PGA_UK" <PGA_UK[at]discussions.microsoft.com> wrote in message news:0E76B724-D30D-4F63-A7F9-544295A955E3[at]microsoft.com... - quote - > I have just rebuilt my PC - running XP Pro, standard build, nothing > special. > When I try to open my MS Money file (2005 version), the password is not > recognised (same for two backup files as well). | You're sure the ENTIRE versions are the same??!? If you reloaded M05 from a CD and the previously installed version that wrote the file had **ever** done an Internet Update, it's 99.9% probability this is NOT true. | Sorry, FOC = Free of charge. Unfortunately, the link provided does not resolve the problem. The version of MS Money, the OS and the MS Money files are the same versions that were in use prior to rebuilding the PC. In other words, the only change that has happend is that the PC was rebuilt and since then, the password is no longer recognised. | See if http://umpmfaq.info/faqdb.php?q=177 helps. FOC? Full Operational Control? | I have just rebuilt my PC - running XP Pro, standard build, nothing special. When I try to open my MS Money file (2005 version), the password is not recognised (same for two backup files as well). The MS Money file was running fine with no issues on same OS prior to rebuild. Does anyone know if the password is tied in with the original user accounts? - IS there anyway of recovering FOC? |
