| RuffGem, For your DRP problems try resetting the plan. I am not sure where it is is 2006, but in 2007 it is located at Tools> Settings> Planner Settings> Reset Debt Plan. I was having problems with the amounts and resetting fix it. | Bad math in the morning. But five or six versions for $100 has surely been possible. You sure about that? The only problem like this I am aware of was fixed in> set up; the information included when "Enter in Register" is chosen is > not what was entered when the bill was set up. That problem was the pay from account getting lost on Enter in Register. Is that what you are experiencing? - quote - > Add to that the minor annoyances -- Money 2007 is much slower
Many people, myself included, find it MUCH faster and more stable AFTER wego to great pains to do the Nuke The Bills thing. - quote - > (if not rebooting) to correct the problem. Sum it all up and what you
Money as expensive software? Please... Many people have bought every upgrade> have is a seriously defective piece of expensive software. for a decade for a total in the neighborhood of $100. - quote - > To top off all of this, I can't even go back to Money 2006. I

This has been true of all fifteen versions of Money so far. It states it in> month, so I can't reinstall Money 2006 to get rid of the monstrosity > that is Money 2007. Besides that it appears that the file format has > changed yet again between 2006 and 2007. the upgrade dialog boxes. It tells you what it is doing to save a copy of your M06 file that you can revert to--granted losing your data entered in M07. This just isn't a new or hidden characteristic. Sure it's unfortunate. But it isn't a newsflash or unique to M07. See http://umpmfaq.info/faqdb.php?q=17. This item has been in the published umpmfaq since the first edition back in February of 2002. - quote - > (I installed a trial version
That's just Money's way of telling you that Mx can't open Mx+n files. Seems like they could come up with a better way to tell you what's going on. But it's been that was for five or six versions at least. - quote - > The Money developers have broken your product. What are you planning
Only one of the issues you raise here is new in any sense to M07. And that> to do for loyal customers who have to suffer with the consequences? one, if you are referring to the same issue many of us saw when M07 first came out, has been fixed. I'm not disagreeing that there are issues nor that some of these things aren't bad and shouldn't be fixed. But they are hardly new, novel, or unique to M07. If Microsoft cared about most of this stuff, they've had YEARS and many versions to show it and haven't. |

| I sent the following note to "managers[at]microsoft.com" as I was advised to do by a Microsoft Tech Support person who was able to offer no help to my Money 2007 problems. I got back an essentially useless cookie cutter response from someone who apparently half-read the email -- that's included at the bottom. (The only useful suggestion was posting to the newsgroups!) -=-=-=-=- I have been a loyal Money user since the first version Microsoft released back in the Windows 95 days. I have been buying an upgrade every year (usually the "Premium" or "Deluxe" version because of the added planning tools and services.) I have had enough! Money 2007 is broken, and the Money 2007 advertising is fraudulent: Money 2007 "Lifetime Planner" doesn't work. It double-counts certain expenses in its projections, producing an apparent huge shortfall in projected worth. It is USELESS. The old version worked fine. Money 2007 "Bills Summary" won't allow a loan payment to be made as set up; the information included when "Enter in Register" is chosen is not what was entered when the bill was set up. I had a service request in for this (SRZ060927001132) whose "resolution" was "this is a known issue." Of course the "known issue" has not been fixed in the seven months since the service request was closed -- I guess I'll have to pay for the Money 2008 upgrade and see if the problem's fixed there? And if it's not I can just smile and be glad that Microsoft scammed me again. The biggest ripoff is in the advertised "free and discounted services" which promises a free year of Experian credit monitoring and monthly credit score updates. This service had been included in the "Deluxe" or "Premium" versions for the past several years, and quite frankly it was one of the few reasons the annual updates were worthwhile. This year after I purchased and installed Money 2007, the Experian services stopped working. I submitted another service request (SRZ070127000897) and was informed that this advertised feature of Money 2007 Premium is only available for first time purchasers, i.e. you can use it for the first year you use Money and that's it. NOWHERE in the ads for Money 2007 -- or even in the "financial services" page within Money itself -- does it say that the free Experian services are not available to existing customers. As far as I'm concerned this is out and out fraud. Add to that the minor annoyances -- Money 2007 is much slower; I now have phantom "automatic update" information displayed for accounts that haven't been on automatic update in five years; Money automatic updates often hang or fail and require closing and restarting Money (if not rebooting) to correct the problem. Sum it all up and what you have is a seriously defective piece of expensive software. To top off all of this, I can't even go back to Money 2006. I purchased that version as a "convenient online update" from a Money 2005-generated popup, and apparently the update rights expire after a month, so I can't reinstall Money 2006 to get rid of the monstrosity that is Money 2007. Besides that it appears that the file format has changed yet again between 2006 and 2007. (I installed a trial version of 2006 on another PC and copied my Money 2007 file there to see if it would open in 2006. 2006 reads it but wants a password -- and since the file is not password protected, there's no way I can open it. The Money developers have broken your product. What are you planning to do for loyal customers who have to suffer with the consequences? -=-=-=-=- MS response: Hello John, Thank you for contacting Microsoft Online Customer Service. I understand from your e-mail that you are experiencing multiple issues with Microsoft Money 2007. The issues are as follows: 1. Lifetime Planner does not work as it double-counts certain expenses in its projections and producing huge shortfall in projected worth. 2. Bill Summary would not allow a loan payment to set up. 3. You are also concerned about the advertised "free and discounted services" for Money 2007 which promises a free year of Experian credit monitoring and monthly credit score updates but Experian services have stopped working for you. 4. Money 2007 is working much slower on your system. 5. Also you are unable to revert back to Money 2006. I am sorry that your experience with our Money 2007 was less than acceptable.
