| Thanks for the help! One last question, is it possible to assign a Payee to a Category and if so, how? Banking-> AccountTools-> Categories&Payees-> Payees-> GoToPayeeRulesManager. Your downloaded transactions may come with some generic term where the Payee should be. Excluded Payee Names identifies words and phrases that should be ignored from the payee field (e.g., check, deposit, purchase). Add words that are generically added by your bank. Set Tools-> Settings-> OnlineServices-> ShowStandardizedPayeeNames to combine payees that differ only by a number or punctuation. This may work better after you have combined payees from previous downloads. This will help you if Money receives payees such as Exxon #5003 and Exxon #5005. I suggest you set Tools-> Settings-> OnlineServices-> AddADescriptionToTheMemoField to aid you in selecting a Payee. Finally, if Money did not select a Payee for you, select the Payee before accepting the transaction. Money should catch on for the next time that Payee comes up. - quote - > What settings should I have so that Money learns the Categories? > "Cal Learner-- MVP" wrote: > > In microsoft.public.money, Christopher wrote: > > > > In 2007, when the program downloads my transactions from the bank, is it > > > possible to have Money automatically set the Category? | I've been downloading for over a month now and Money has never set the Category. Initially when Money downloaded the transactions, I manually accepted the transactions and now, I have the transactions automatically accepted. What settings should I have so that Money learns the Categories? | In 2007, when the program downloads my transactions from the bank, is it possible to have Money automatically set the Category? I would like to set up some rules such as: 1. If the Payee is <xxx> , then set the Category to <yyy2. If the Memo contains the words <aaa> , then set the Category to <yyy2. If the Memo contains the words <aaa> , prompt me to enter a Category or make a selection from some options (if possible). Thanks in advance. |
