Interesting.

I just spoke with someone from CheckFree tech support today. He indicated that
the sign in for Money 2007 will be the same as my sign-in ID on the MSN Bill
Pay site, which is NOT an email address but rather a variation of my name.

He stated, however, (and this should have been to conveyed to me by email or on
their web site, instead of having to waste my time running it down), that the
ability to sign in from Money would NOT occur until after the account I set up
on MSN Bill Pay was "verified". The verification is a process where the system
does a credit and debit to my underlying account, and then I go to the MSN web
site and indicate, next to the transaction record, that the transaction was OK.

He gets about one call/week for this problem. And he has previously suggested
that this information be available readily to those of us who are new sign-ups.

I have no intention of signing in on the web to MSN Bill Pay, so, except for
the sign-up routine, that doesn't affect me.

My own biggest confusion is this specific issue.
Since if I sign into MSN Bill Pay on the web, my sign in is in the form of
an email address.
But Money 2007 needs the "underlying" account id.

Oh. Yes. I am intending to be on the phone with them if I try to sign up
again. But first I wanted to investigate whether there were any negatives that
others in the NG may be aware of.

Ask them "What are my credentials to sign into Money 2007 to use MSN Bill
Pay?"
It will likely be some 25 character long "account id" and your password.

I'm not understanding your response. What other information should I ask of
CheckFree than I already have, in order to answer my question?

When I asked Checkfree about the disadvantages, as I wrote below, "I am told by
CheckFree customer support that there are none."

What else should I ask them?

Ask CheckFree for that information (they own and run the MSN Bill Pay
service as well)

Default MSN Bill Pay versus CheckFree

I have been a CheckFree customer for many years. Initially through Manage Your
Money, but, for the last ten years, through Microsoft Money. I do not (and
won't) use any of the "sync" or "passport" options available through MSN. I
will only be accessing the service through Microsoft Money.

I am considering switching from using CheckFree (as an original customer) to
MSN Money Bill Pay -- still all through Microsoft Money. There are some
technical reasons for me to try this, having to do with an issue in Microsoft
Money.

Are there any disadvantages to making this switch? I am told by CheckFree
customer support that there are none.

I tried signing up for MSN Bill Pay yesterday, but saw no way to obtain the
Money specific information that was called for during the sign-up process (and,
at the time, I did not have enough time to consult with support about the
issue).

Thanks for any information.
