Normal....

I don't think there is only one right way. You might open the
Sample.mny file to see how that is organized as one way to do
things.

I don't know. I don't use a budget.

Yes, I guess I can just rename 'Bill's to 'Utilities'.

Do you know the "normal" practice? Is is better to Category and subcatory?

I guess that I am getting Bank Charges: [subcategory blank], when setting up
a Budget, because my categories are setup this way. Would you agree?

I have Utilities, and underneath that, 'Phone', 'Electricity', 'Gas'
etc.

It is not necessary to set it up this way.

Having a "bills" category seems odd to me.

Do you have a category then alot of subcategories underneath? For example,
I have 'Bills' (a category) and underneath I have 'Phone', 'Electricity',
'Gas' etc. Is it necessary to have it setup like this? Would you say it's
more efficient just to have 'Phone', 'Electricity', 'Gas' without the
'Bills' category?

Thank you.

I would Move (or you can Delete) a subcategory or category I wanted
to get rid of. Money will ask what category to move the affected
transactions to.

Speaking of categories, in Money 2007 you might like
Tools-> Settings-> CategorySettings-> ChooseCategoriesAndSubcategoriesFromSeparateLists

If you try it and don't like it as well, you can change it back.

Default subcategory mix up

I am slightly confused about my subcategories. I have "Bank Charges:
[subcategory blank]" and dont know why it states blank, because when I goto
the category, I have 2 other subcategories in the 'Subcategories' box.
Similary I have "Bills [all other]" all under the Budget Category Utilities
and all my sub category bill are under that category.

Can I delete the above because I have individual Categories and
subcategories for each bill under the Utilities budget heading, for example.

Does this makes sense to you? I hope you can help as it's difficult to
describe.
