Set
Tools-> Settings-> OnlineServices-> ShowStandardizedPayeeNames to
combine payees that differ only by a numbers or punctuation. This
may work better after you have combined payees from previous
downloads.

Banking-> AccountTools-> Categories&Payees-> Payees-> GoToPayeeRulesManager
Your downloaded transactions may come with some generic term where
the Payee should be. Excluded Payee Names identifies words and
phrases that should be ignored from the payee field (e.g., check,
deposit, purchase, ATM, etc). Add words that are generically added
by your bank. In your case, you probably would *not* want to add
CASH WDL since you are content to let the payee be something like
"ATM cash withdrawal".

I also suggest you set
Tools-> Settings-> OnlineServices-> AddADescriptionToTheMemoField
to aid you in selecting a Payee.

Then the next time that you download such a transaction, make the
Payee be "ATM cash withdrawal". Money should catch on for future
transactions.

Sorry for the accidental repetitive posts, but just wanted to add,
that my query is for Money 2007 home and business edition.

Default How to part match a payee name to create a rule?

Hi,
Every time i do an ATM cash withdrawal, my statement shows the
transaction, with a suffix of unique date time stamp such as :

ATM/CASH WDL/20050218184013/0
ATM/CASH WDL/20050402110431/0

etc.

Can Money automatically rename them to a consistent Payee name such as
"ATM Withdrawal" or something, to make my statement look cleaner?

I have this problem with some other transactions too, such as online
bill pay.
