Money 2007 will import Money 2005 files from US or Canadian files.
It will not import Money 2005 files from other countries.

Just before be care full that money is not compatible for descending version,
ie if you lost money 2005 your files wont work on the money 2007 you would by
now.

I am like you, I lost the computer system but saved the data. I still try to
restore my data but I under stood more or less that buy money 2007 wont help
(refer article of windows faq/support) they call to reinstall the same
version to restore the data, what i did but unsuccessfully. I am still
looking for some help.

Just to point out here that there is no Money Standard 2007 version. There
is a TOTALLY USELESS and non-compatible Money Essentials. The lowest level
2007 upgrade version from Money 2005 Standard is Money Deleuxe.

Kenny,

I'm sorry to say but it sounds like your out of luck. Unfortunately, very
few programs can run or at least run properly without all of the registy
settings and extra and shared files that may be installed all over your
computer. Maybe you feel that Money should be able to run without these but
that just isn't the way it works. That's why it's so important to properly
backup the origial installation files for any application you download. Not
backing them up is like purchasing software in the store, installing it, then
throwing the discs in the trash and blaming the publisher when you can't
reinstall later. You have nothing to reinstall from and you really can't
blame that on them.

I'm really sorry for your loss but hopefully it will be a good learning
experience for you. Also, if your original purchase was a while ago, consider
this a good time to upgrade. You can get some really good deals on Money 2007
Standard or Deluxe if you shop around. Also, just to keep you safe, I'd
highly recommend purchasing a retail package over downloading. They're
usually much cheaper and much more secure in instances like this, assumign
you don't throw the discs away of course ;-)

Sincerely,

Cal, I read this as a question of how to reinstall the Money program when
the user doesn't have original download. Again as I read it he has a copy of
the Money directory from Program Files but that won't be enough.....

It depends. Copy the *.mny and *.mbf files from the old drive to a
USB flash drive, so that you have an extra copy.
Then copy the latest .mny and .mbf files to your MyDocuments folder
on the new drive. See
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/889930/ for how to reload Money 2006
and 2006. For 2007, there would be a different method.

Default how do I reinstall money after OS reinstall

I had to reinstall XP, and lost all installed programs, registry, etc. I
still have the old hard drive, so I have the installed files for money,
office, etc. But none of them are really installed. I do not see a setup
file anywhere, and trying to run the exe I get a message that I have to run
setup. I downloaded the software, and suppose I no longer have the original
downloaded file.

Money should be able to run with the files I have, but I have to get it
installed.

Can anyone help?
