Sersim,

I download from Capital One and do not have the problem you are having.
Have you tried repairing you file and deleting your temp files. It is worth
a try.

Cindy

Cal,

I have realized that this is not the answer I need. I have even downloaded
a trial copy of Money 2007 and it is doing the same thing. Either Money or
Capital One's software are just arbitrarily assigning payees to the
transactions. They are grayed out so that I cannot change them to the
correct payee. Is anyone else having this problem?

This might happen if something like POS etc is entered into the
Payee spot. The following won't put the right payee there, but
should keep the wrong one from being put there.

Suppose the last incorrect Payee that got associated with such a
transaction is ABCDEFG.

Go to
Banking-> AccountTools-> Categories&Payees-> Payees-> PreferredPayeeNames
which shows how downloaded names are translated into Payees.
Record the Payee Name Variation(s) shown for ABCDEFG. Delete the
entries that are not necessarily ABCDEFG.

Then click on GoToPayeeRulesManager. Excluded Payee Names
identifies words and phrases that should be ignored from the payee
field (e.g., check, deposit). Add each word or phrase that were
listed as a Payee Name Variation that you recorded.

While you are at it, it is usually a good idea to select
Tools-> Settings-> OnlineServices-> ReplacePayeeNames....

You may want to set
Tools-> Settings-> OnlineServices-> AddADescriptionToTheMemoField

Then correct the payee in the register.

Default Downloads from Capital One with 2006 Deluxe

My downloads from Capital One Bank are consistently scrambled. One problem
is the wrong payee may be assigned to the transaction. Another problem is
the transaction is duplicated because payment is sent out one day and
received by my bank 3 or 4 days later. Any ideas?
