| Cal, I hate to keep blowing holes in your solutions but I only write, at most, 6 checks/mo. The overwhelming other transactions are with credit/debit cards and on-line payments as much as possible. This may seem odd but it is far quicker, cheaper, and, quite frankly, the lazy way out. Besides I just don't like writing checks. I do understand your comments about when the data coming across not necessarily in the same order as it was written in the original file. It would be nice to see the transactions in the same order as the register to follow along with its sequence. It is understandable, though, why it is possible that it cannot be done. However, the cleared/reconciled column, I would think, should come across. All the other fields come and I was just wondering why it doesn't. Thanks for the help. | That is the column in reference. I suppose the question could be: is this a field that synchronizes between the two locations? -- Dan Johnson "Dick Watson" <littlegreengecko[at]mind-enufalready-spring.com> wrote in message news:uhmBWSbgHHA.4064[at]TK2MSFTNGP02.phx.gbl... - quote - > I believe he's talking about Reconciled/Cleared. > "Cal Learner-- MVP" <via_newsgroup[at]please.tnx> wrote in message > news:trua23t3t1onqqrk0b4ls3b7islj51pvf1[at]4ax.com... > > Where/what is the "Mark As" column? |

OK Let's assume you have Microsoft Money installed on both thelaptop and the desktop, and that you are using MoneyCentral/MSN Money to synchronize between the units. This should work for basic transaction data in Money 2005, but it does not fully sync all the data or settings in the file. If you really wants them to be identical, YOu have to edit only one file at a time, and when finished - copy that file over the *.mny file in the other computer. Be extra careful. Have Money set to backup onto each machine, and keep more than one version of backup. Also, keep some more backups on a USB drive. Alternatively, just replace the .mny on the laptop with a copy of the .mny file on the desk top. The files would be identical at that point. Then you could carry on as you were. - quote - > > > > > 2.. I use the "Sort by Order Entry" in both accounts but the one on my laptop does not follow the order entry. I did not think of that! It makes perfect sense. The order of entry> > > I would see if File-> RepairMoneyFile-> QuickFileRepair helps. > This didn't help. > Your next post didn't ask why the Entry Order method but the answer lies in the fact that it matches my checkbook register data entry. for each transaction is not going to be based on when the transaction was made originally , but when it made its way into that Money file. So they could differ. Copying the Money file over would get them to match at that point. Perhaps you could sort by check number when comparing to written check register. You can do that by clicking the Num header. |

I was thinking again about that. Normally you would want to sort by> Any help is appreciated. date, and only sort by entry order in very special circumstances. |

Where is the "Mark As" column? Are you talking about a palmtop> 1.. The "Mark As" column on my laptop has never updated with the information from the desktop (it is simply empty). | I have been running MS Money 2005 since it was new and synchronizing my desktop that holds the primary program with my laptop which I have with me any time that I am away. There are two issues that I have not been able to resolve. 1.. The "Mark As" column on my laptop has never updated with the information from the desktop (it is simply empty). Is there a setting that I need to change to allow this functionality? 2.. I use the "Sort by Order Entry" in both accounts but the one on my laptop does not follow the order entry. I'm not certain what order it is following. It is fairly close but not exactly. Again, is there a setting I am missing? Any help is appreciated. Regards, -- Dan Johnson |
