If it was from a single institution, I would expect a bad OFX file. The person who started the thread found that the same FITID for more than one transaction. The FITID needs to be unique to a single transaction for a given account. http://support.microsoft.com/default...b;en-us;179836 tells how to collect logs if you are not doing website downloads. - quote - > > Source: 16.0 " error message when you File-> Import the .ofx file?").

| I´m experiencing the same error message. Tried the solutions explained here, but none of them worked out as well. The funny part is that I had previously performed some importing, and suddnely it stoped working for EVERY different bank. Some of the banks let me choose the format of the file to save, so I tried the OFX, and it did not work, tried the OFC and Money did not recognize that, and tried QIF, and it worked fine on the test file I created. I´m afraid to import to the real file and have all my transactions duplicated. I used to work with Money 2006 (always using home business version 06 and 07), and it never showed anyproblem until the day it poped up a window with and error message, saying my msmoney.exe file had some kind of problem on the MNYCore files directory. Now I have my hands tied, as on MNY 06 I get huge error messag window, and on 07, the same error message window described on this tread. My banks, here in Brazil, do not allow me to use the online mode to update automatically, so my only way out is importing OFX. What do I do? Any updates from microsoft? I don´t believe this is an error from financial institution, as it had always worked fine. | The OFX file was generated by my bank and I didn´t change anything except deleting the first two lines, as you also suggested, before trying to import the data. I found a work-around that worked and which makes me think that Money 2007 isn´t handling the OFX file correctly. I converted the original OFX file from the bank with MT2OFX to QIF. Money 2007 imported the data from this QIF file without any error messages and did it correctly. Why can MT2OFX read the file and Money can´t? Regarding the FITIDs, my bank always uses the same FITID for the same payee. Every time I have a payment for a certain payee (each month or many times per month), the FITID number is the same. Money didn´t complain about that when importing from the QIF file! | It may be some other "special character" other than the ampersand. I saw some astericks in the memos. Although, I don't believe the memo field should typically cause a problem. I'd suggest looking through the file for any instances of non-alphanumeric characters in payee and account name fields to see if they could be impacting this. Especially quotes and angled brackets: ', ", <, "Cal Learner-- MVP" <via_newsgroup[at]please.tnx> wrote in message news:c4l723dgshpl2sj154r62553oliodb3973[at]4ax.com... - quote - > In microsoft.public.money, crisrich wrote: > > Didn´t work. What that means is that an FITID (financial institution transaction> ***OFX 1.02 Add ~10 > ***OFX 2.0 Add ~2 > Running Data Through Parser > No Parse Errors > Reading Data Into Buffer > Tokenizing Data > Initializing Data Structures > Analyzing Data > Verifying Security Types > Verifying Security Uniqueness > Verifying FITID Uniqueness > ERROR: Duplicate FITID in <STMTTRN> : > <FITID> 8081234 > NOTE: If all <ACCTID> values differ for the FITID in question, this error > may be ignored. > ERROR: Duplicate FITID in <STMTTRN> : > <FITID> 8081234 > NOTE: If all <ACCTID> values differ for the FITID in question, this error > may be ignored. *usually*? Not good enough.> question. What is the source of these FITID values anyway? The FITIDs that I have seen have generally been much longer strings. Are you generating your own OFX files? If you want to make the FITIDs different for testing, try suffixing or prefixing each duplicated FITID with a letter. They don't have to be all numbers. If you are generating the FITID with your own software, consider appending the amount, date etc, or use a hash of those values. - quote - > Please tell me which OFX versions Money 2007 accepts. | Didn´t work. Same error. I opened the original ofx file, deleted the extra "OFXHEADER:100" and the blank line and saved the file with name Test1.mny. When I tried to import it, the same error message appeared. I searched the whole file for ampersands: none found. I only deleted transactions from the copy that I posted here in the forum to make it shorter. The part I cut out started with <STMTTRN> and ended with the last </STMTTRN> . Apart from deleting the extra "OFXHEADER:100" and the blank line from the original, I made no changes to the file I´m trying to import. I analyzed the original file with the Money OFX Data Analyzer which gave the following output: *** All line number references do not include header lines *** ***OFX 1.02 Add ~10 ***OFX 2.0 Add ~2 Running Data Through Parser No Parse Errors Reading Data Into Buffer Tokenizing Data Initializing Data Structures Analyzing Data Verifying Security Types Verifying Security Uniqueness Verifying FITID Uniqueness ERROR: Duplicate FITID in <STMTTRN> : <FITID> 8081234 NOTE: If all <ACCTID> values differ for the FITID in question, this error may be ignored. Verifying Sign Correctness Verifying Total Calculations Verifying Other Done Analyzing File It didn´t complain about the extra "OFXHEADER:100" and the blank line and gave the same result to the file where these first two lines were deleted. I didn´t check it, but usually all <ACCTID> values differ for the FITIDs in question. Please tell me which OFX versions Money 2007 accepts. My files seem to be 102, is that correct? File-> Import the file as you posted it, minus the extra "OFXHEADER:100" and the blank line. I suspect you will not get that same error. If that is the case, the problem would seem to lie in something you deleted in you cleansing process. In that case, try the original file with less cleaned out. You should be able to determine (think binary search) where the problem area is. One quick and easy check: does the file contain any ampersand ('&') characters? - quote - > "Cal Learner-- MVP" wrote: > > In microsoft.public.money, crisrich wrote: > > > > I´m sending part of the ofx file I downloaded from my bank. | Hello Cal, First of all I want to say that I´m impressed by how good this forum works. You folks are really doing a good job here. Deleting the first two lines in the header was the first thing I tried, but it didn´t work out. In the error windows that opens when I try to import the file there is a button "Send Error Report". When I click that an IE page at moneycentral.msn.com opens telling me that there is no answer to this error message and the following text: "Details ID: obres:19262 Source: 16.0 We're sorry There is no additional information about this issue in the Error and Event Log Messages or Knowledge Base databases at this time. You can use the links in the Support area to determine whether any additional information might be available elsewhere. ------------------------------------------------ Thank you for searching on this message; your search helps us identify those areas for which we need to provide more information." The result with the file in which I deleted the two first lines as suggested by you is exactly the same.
