| Dear Microsoft: I have been a Microsoft Money user for many, many years. (Going back to Money '98? I forget.) I reluctantly upgraded to Money 2007 Premium earlier this year from Money 2004 when I read somewhere that Money 2004 was no longer going to be supported. Nice call since it's worked great for me for years. (I also read that Money 2005, Money 2006, and Money 2007 had issues. Hence my reluctance to upgrade.) For years, I have sync'ed Money with my online accounts on nearly a daily basis. I'm that kind of focused on keeping my eye on my money, and Money has historically served me very well in this habit. Money 2007 does not. Since installing it, I have: 1) Battled with my prior bank, NetBank, for nearly two months to get them to figure out by Money 2007 does not synchronize with their systems. (Specifically, I directly contacted NetBank's Director of Customer Service. He and his colleagues were polite, but they never fixed the problem.) 2) Installed, reinstalled, and reinstalled Money 2007 on several different workstations, including a brand-new, fresh Windows XP install, to test the NetBank issue with my years-old Money file and NEW, EMPTY Money files. Always fails. Hence I pointed a finger at NetBank. 3) Now I have SWITCHED BANKS -- Yes, Cal, I have switched banks, which in itself is a huge pain in the *$&%# -- to E*Trade Bank, thinking that this would remedy what were apparently NetBank's issues, since I was successfully accessing my E*Trade brokerage accounts via Money 2007. Syncing with my new E*Trade checking and savings accounts worked for a short time, but now it's broken again. (Brokerage works, banking does not?!?!!) The fundamental issue is that I cannot get Money 2007 to successfully attach to or download statements from my E*Trade checking and savings accounts. After upgrading to Money 2007, NetBank just stopped working. Upon "updating online accounts" it would ponder for a while and fail with obscure, meaningless errors. (OBRES 22064, anyone?) Now the same thing is happening with E*Trade Bank. When I first set up the new E*Trade accounts, I connected to them fine. Then it started failing some of the time, then all of the time. Now I've disconnected "online services" for this account and tried to recreate them from scratch PER A KNOWLEDGE BASE ARTICLE SUGGESTION and I cannot. It fails EVERY time with a helpful OBRES 22063 error. Oh, yea, that one! We all know just what that is. I have read every Microsoft knowledge base article I can find. I have perused public.microsoft.money and other usenet groups. I have Googled. (I have not Microsoft Live'd, sorry.) I have perused blogs. The only this I find there is that LOTS OF PEOPLE HAVE THIS PROBLEM WITH LOTS OF DIFFERENT FINANCIAL INSTITUTIONS, BUT MICROSOFT IS DOING NOTHING ABOUT IT. I have spent HOURS OF MY TIME AWAY FROM MY FAMILY troubleshooting this issue with the NetBank team and on my own. WHY AM I A BETA TESTER FOR THIS SOFTWARE? In Money 2004, this worked flawlessly nearly every time. Why did it break?!?!! I want this to be fixed. Or I want Microsoft to buy me a copy of Quicken. I await your response, Microsoft.... MC |
