That's up to date.

That's *.mbf ... hope that you actually were searching for *.mdf
when you did not find such a file.

You also could search for the backup made when you converted to
Money 2007. If you converted from Money 2004, for example, that
would be a *.m15 file. Perhaps you could search for "*.m1?".

Did you maybe back up to a USB drive at some point?

Is it possible that running Vista, you don't find all of the stuff
on the network drive that you don't own? I don't know.

Ouch.

You don't have a password, so the question would be moot.

Find salv.exe in your install, typically in
"C:\Program Files\Microsoft Money 2007\MNYCoreFiles\".
See if that can make sense of your file. I am not very hopeful for
you, but it's worth a try.

I don't have to tell you to review your backup strategies for the
future.

Alright I realize I am an idiot and had set Money up to never make a backup
file like it does by default.

Am i completely screwed?

Well Money version is 16.0.150.1303

Unfortunately I don't seem to have any mdf files anywhere. I looked in the
My Documents folder (showing hidden files too) and then did a general search
for mdf files. no luck.

Just onle little detail. My Microsoft money file has been on a netowrked
hard drive which i access from a different computer. Today i discovered that
that networked hard drive had died. I have since recovered all those files
but i suspect when the HD died, it did something bad to the money file.

I am so frustrated. Will a password recovery program work for Money 2007?

If Help about does not show the version to be less than 16.0.*.1303,
check back.

They are typically in your Documents/MyDocuments folder. But a
search for *.mbf should show them. They should incorporate a
timestamp as part of the filename.

I am using Vista mainly, but i also tried opening up the file in XP with the
same result.

Where are the backup .mbf files? I'll try looking for them

The good news is that Money 2007 makes backup files by default. So
unless you changed things, you should find some *.mbf files.

If using XP, try opening Money by double-clicking the sample.mny
file, which would typically be in
"C:\Program Files\Microsoft Money 2007\"

Does that open? If you are not using XP, say so.

Default asking for password but never set one

I have been using Money 2007 for the last several months without issue (have
been using prior versions for past several years). I haven;t upgraded
anything for awhile.

Today my computer crashed while Money was running. Upon restarting Money, it
now asks for a password for the file. I never set one! None of my usual
passwords work, nor do i even get to the point of asking me for a passport
password.

I don't know what the heck is going on. It seems people get this problem
when using different versions of Money.. but i haven't changed anyting. It
seems my file got corrupt but i never made a backup.

Someone please help me!
