| There is a good chance that your computer came with "free" software that you think is useless to you and that you have already deleted from the laptop. IMHO Money Essentials is in that category. Even if you can get it to work, you will find it not very helpful. Buy Money Deluxe or Quicken, use an existing spreadsheet or database program or continue to use the paper based method of money management that you have used in the past. Save yourself the frustration of this useless product. -- Peace, BobJ "Cal Learner-- MVP" <via_newsgroup[at]please.tnx> wrote in message news:ujh013t5ql6mffj4en4bgemovqdsmind2e[at]4ax.com... - quote - > In microsoft.public.money, Bruce Lawrence wrote: > > I just got my wife a new Toshiba laptop. I don't know if this will help. I don't use essentials myself, so these are just some speculations: Check that the SSL2 protocol is enabled. That checkbox may be in IE Tools-> InternetOptions-> Advanced. If still no go, in IE, I would go to Tools-> InternetOptions-> Security-> TrustedSites-> Sites list and uncheck "Require server verification... ". In the trusted sites list I would add these: moneycentral.msn.com fdl.microsoft.com passport.com passport.net login.live.com g.msn.com money:// |

| I just got my wife a new Toshiba laptop. We're trying to start Microsoft Money Essentials OEM for the first time. On the initial startup it asked if I wanted to run update and I said yes. It downloaded something and applied the update. Now when I start it up I have to go through a setup process. I have put in her LIVE account information but it keep saying that I have to go online and reenter my login details. When I click the help icon nothing comes up. It says page can not be displayed. Oddly enouh when I try to create a new LIVE account through the money setup I also get a "page cannot be displayed" error as if I'm not on the internet but I know I am. I've searched for KB articles and followed the one from Microsoft regarding this issue but nothing is fixing it. Please help. |
