Make sure http://support.microsoft.com/kb/929427 update is taken
care of.

Make sure that your file is copied into Documents/MyDocuments on the
new computer.

Run Money as Administrator. File-> New-> NewFile create a new file
(clicking decline during setup) or open Sample.mny.
Close Money. That should let the version update to 14.0.*.1105.
Again run Money as Administrator and File-> open your real file.

Thereafter you should not have to run as administrator, unless there
is some updating to Money to do.

Default moving a mny file from XP to Vista

I bought a new laptop with Vista loaded (business edition).

Installed my copy of Money 2005. Copied my .mny file over to the new
laptop. When I try to open it, Money says it wants to convert it and
upgrade it to 2005 (it IS a 2005 version).

Click OK to convert (anyway). Error: Money cannot locate... (I chose the
file from a menu) It is NOT being used by another application.

I tried Run As Administrator but the same thing happens.

Suggestions?
