Default Re: Update invoice so it shows partial amount paid and new amount

I have the same problem with MS Money 2006 Small Business. Are you using
2006 or 2007? The only way I see to show the deduction of the down payment
is to use the email feature that turns your invoice into a text format. This
is not very appealing and does not look very professional. Using the print
function does not show the deduction. This does not make any sense.

The invoice list shows the deduction and the correct balance but when I
print it, it does not show either. I was hoping this was fixed in the 2007
version. If not, I might try Quickbooks. Does Money 2007 have the same
problem?

Yes, I can applly customer payments to invoices, and it will show the invoice
as partially paid. But then when I look at the actual invoice to print out,
it hasn't changed. I don't seem to be able to add any kind of item to show
the amount paid, and then subtract that from the amount due, so I can then
send the invoice out again to have the customer pay the rest.

If I have to create a new invoice, I would want it to have the same invoice
number. But then my original invoice would still show a balance due and the
new invoice would as well.

Have you looked up the "Record payment on a customer invoice" topic in
Money's Help?

I'm not sure that Money can do exactly what you want to do. You may need to
create an new invoice for the "remaining" amount due.

Default Update invoice so it shows partial amount paid and new amount due

Does anyone know how to update an invoice after receiving and applying a
partial payment, so that you can print out the invoice again showing the
partial payment made as well as the remaining amount due?

We often have people pay us 1/2 up front and 1/2 when the work is completed.
So I want to send out a follow up invoice showing the original total amount,
the payment they have already made, and then the remaining amount now due.

Thanks,

Adam
