| Obviously Money doesn't do that for everyone. It sounds like corruption of some system file, a dll maybe, or perhaps a problem in the registry. One other thing to try first is to remove your data file to some place where Money can't find it, before starting Money. It's possible that some corruption in your data is causing the problem, even if you try to use the sample file. Run a disk check too. You never know what issues a hosed file system might cause. If none of that helps, I suggest running a registry repair tool. I've had good luck with Ace Utilities, http://www.acelogix.com/. Uninstall Money before running it, so that leftover Money registry entries get removed. Also ensure that there are no Money files left on your disk after the uninstall. Move your data file elsewhere for backup first, of course. Other than that, you might try a repair installation of Windows. I don't think it's Money's fault. | Doesn't anyone have any advice? I've been racking my brain for the past week wondering what would make a program refuse to open properly without giving an error message. No other program I have is acting this way, I don't seem to have any viruses, and I've reinstalled Money at least ten times! I've tried everything I can think of, and I just don't know what else I can do to make this work. "Harcourt F. | I've tried reinstalling it numerous times in different locations. I've tried opening with a different user. I've also tried opening the Sample file. Every time I try, it starts to open but then closes again. | There is no time for any error message. It starts to open, all I see is the outline of the screen and the begining of the splash screen and then it dissapears. The program is not even open for 5 seconds. "Mark" wrote: - quote - > Is Money giving you an error message when it "closes"? | Is Money giving you an error message when it "closes"? If so what are the "details" of the error? Will the Sample.mny file (or a New file) open? -Mark "Zoe Muzak" <ZoeMuzak[at]discussions.microsoft.com> wrote in message news:CB57659B-BA17-42F7-8E2E-E98235F9659C[at]microsoft.com... - quote - > "Cal Learner-- MVP" wrote: > > Reboot the computer. | I've been running Money 2006 on Windows 2000 for about a month or two. I have had zero problems with this until earlier this week when I came home and started to perform my evening routine. I guess it started when I tried to sync with my hand held... I also opened up Money to get ready to pay for some bills, and Money locked up on me. Then my hand held told me it could not synchronize the money data. I found out that my data drive was not being read. I removed the drive and am working on getting that fixed, but in the meantime I decided to recover my money file so I could continue to work with it. I had a back up file from 3 days prior to the malfunction, so I tried to open it, but when I clicked on Money, it got so far as the splash screen and then closed again. I've tried reinstalling it numerous times in different locations. I've tried opening with a different user. I've also tried opening the Sample file. Every time I try, it starts to open but then closes again. Any help on this would be greatly appreciated. I have numerous accounts that I need to keep track of and my hand held can only do so much. |
