Money 2006 kept a copy of your Money 2000 file as it existed at the
time of conversion. That file is named *.mn9 .

I hope somebody is knowledgeable in that area for you.

One thing to consider is to try the new budget type in Money 2007
Deluxe. To experiment with that, you could make a copy of your
existing Money file in a new name and see how you like that budget
method.

Forget that as an existing user, since it cannot convert an existing
Money file from an earlier version.

Money 98 would definitely be a bad choice.

Default Stay or leave MS 2000

Hi,
I upgraded to Money 06 and it was a total disaster when I tried to
move the old 2000 files to as safe place, just in case. Needless to
say, things got bolloxed up and I lost all three month's data.

Enough said. So I went back to money 2000 which I still find a little
too complicated, and I rebuilt everything by transcribing data from
printed reports.

Now I decided that all I need is a report for ACTUAL Income and
Expense VS BUDGETED Income and Expenses. for any ONE month with no
Accumulated or YTD data. That's all I need. No ONLINE, No MORTGAGE, No
NOTHING except as mentioned above.

I used to be smart but my 80 year old brain is slipping, slowly. So
I'm considering simplicity with Money Essentials. Will it do what I
want without getting a headache at the end of the day from all the
confusion?

The confusion lies in trying to track errors, such as the "ALL OTHER
EXPENSES" as a category on the Budget Report and not knowing how to
track it. And other small irritations, losing entries, etc.

OR stay with Money 2000. I also have Money 98. would that be easier.
Easier means losing a lot of little 'goodies' but I'm willing.

ThanX so much to all!
