You want to have your savings account total broken down into buckets?
$x designated for your "emergency fund", $y designated for the down
payment on your next car, $z designated for vacation, etc. We REALLY
wanted to do that, too. But, we didn't find a way to do it in M04.
We kick the account balance out to excel where we break it out into
buckets. Fortunately for me, my wife is a CPA, an she takes care of
it.

The savings tools in the budget planner don't work the way we wanted
them to.

This is a variant of the "sub-accounts" question about how to do cookie jar
accounting.

The basic answer is no. There are lots of kludgey variants. I won't
recommend any of them.

Hello,

I'm not a real experienced user, but I will take a stab at this one.

Would it be sufficient to you to create a subcategory of Income/Interest (or
transfers, however you want to categorize the transactions) that you can view
through a report? You could use your custom (sub)category when you split the
transactions.

You might not get that subtotal to display along with the grand total
everywhere you look, but at least you'd have access to it easily through the
report system.

Default Savings account management

Can I use Money to "split" transfers into a savings account linked to Money
to track totals for specific savings goals? Similar to a split transaction
but without hitting income? To display subtotals of the bank total into my
groups?
