Thank you for your consideration. folder. Now you have a new copy in case the USB drive were to fail. In Windows Explorer, right-click the copy and choose Open. That should start Money 2003. During restore, do not choose to accept restoring to the default location. Instead Browse to your Documents folder and choose a name. - quote - > "Cal Learner-- MVP" wrote: > > In microsoft.public.money, jermmd wrote: > > > > I found a backup file of all my accounts in Money deluxe 2003 up until last > > > year (probably 5 years worth of financial info). | Last year my computer got the green screen of death and I only recently got another computer after attempts to resurrect it. I have my backup Microsoft Money 2003 on a Flash Drive for eight months. I loaded Microsoft Money 2003 on the new computer, of course the accounts are '0'. Attempts to import my backup has been futile. I am unable to create a QIF file to import my backup into MS Money 2003 as you suggested below. I've tried File Import but it keeps asking for account names and shows my account numbers. Any suggestions on how I can import my backup files into Microsoft Money 2003. Thank you for your consideration. Then File-> Import them all at once using Ctrl+<click> to select *ALL* of the QIF files. To produce those files, you want to File-> Restore your backup to a DIFFERENTLY-NAMED Money file. Do not restore to the default name, but instead Browse to your MyDocuments folder, and choose a name like jermmd_old . With that file open, you can File-> Export from each account, choosing a name you will recognized during the import. If there is not overlap in the time frames, things should be OK. If there is overlap, you can delete duplicate transactions in Money, or you can edit the QIF files first. Make extra copies and backups of your files in case you want to undo something or in case your hard drive were to have an unlikely failure. Expect to need to adjust the Starting Balance for each account. |

| I found a backup file of all my accounts in Money deluxe 2003 up until last year (probably 5 years worth of financial info). My present money deluxe file starts at about 6 months ago but includes all the same accounts-maybe under different names. How do I import the old information into my present account? Using the import function, I have to choose a specific account (like checking for instance) to import all the data into. How do I import all of my different old account transactions into all of the same accounts in my present file? I want the checking info in the old back up file to go into my present checking account, mutual fund transactions go into the mutual fund accounts, credit card transactions into credit card accounts, etc.. Thanks, Joe M. |
