| That is exactly what is happening. By moving the file under my account-documents folder, it seems to have resolved the issue. -- John Oliver, Jr MCSE, MCT, CCNA Exchange MVP 2007 Microsoft Certified Partner "Gary Hughes" <Gary Hughes[at]discussions.microsoft.com> wrote in message news:B93BED31-F977-497A-8CA9-6B085F950511[at]microsoft.com... - quote - > Vista tries to not let a program modify a file under C:\Program Files. > When > Money attempts to do so it is automatically redirected to your virtual > store, > which is under C:\Users\<UserName> \AppData\Local\VirtualStore. | Vista tries to not let a program modify a file under C:\Program Files. When Money attempts to do so it is automatically redirected to your virtual store, which is under C:\Users\<UserName> \AppData\Local\VirtualStore. If you are modifying a file that already exists, a copy of it will be made in the virtual store. I'll bet if you look there you will find a copy of your money file. This is supposed to be transparent, but it sounds like you are encountering one of the issues discussed in the following support note: http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx/kb/927387 Gary "John Oliver, Jr. [MVP]" wrote: - quote - > I actually ended up creating a new money file, storing it in Documents under > my account, then restoring backup file of problem file to new money file. > Everything seems to be working now but I am still curious as to why this was > happening. | I actually ended up creating a new money file, storing it in Documents under my account, then restoring backup file of problem file to new money file. Everything seems to be working now but I am still curious as to why this was happening. I know the money file and where it was located, I click directly on it and it would revert back to the day I restored from my XP system. Wondering if there are some permission issues with Vista and storing your file under Program Files? Interesting to see if anyone runs into this issue with Vista and Money 2007. | Are you just opening the Money program? Money uses the last file you opened even if it is a backup. Restore your backup; close Money then with My Computer or Windows Explorer, navigate to the .mny file you just created and double click on the file name. That will fire up Money and it will remember where it found the .mny file. -- Regards Bob Peel, Microsoft MVP - Money For UK tips & fixes see http://support.microsoft.com/default...d=fh;EN-GB;mny. | Where is your file stored? In "My Documents"? If not, try moving it there and open it from there. -Mark "John Oliver, Jr. [MVP]" <jcoliverjr[at]hotmail.com> wrote in message news:2CBD66CC-CFAC-4A30-B198-116E55008483[at]microsoft.com... - quote - > I recently installed Money 2007 on Vista Enterprise with no issues. > Restored my backup file and everything working ok. | I recently installed Money 2007 on Vista Enterprise with no issues. Restored my backup file and everything working ok. Problem however, whenever I close my Money and open it backup the file does not keep my changes. I have verified the .mny file is not read only but the only way to get my file back is to restore. I have to do this everytime I open Money as it resorts back to my original .mny file settings. I have also verified that I am local admin on the computer. Any ideas? -- John Oliver, Jr MCSE, MCT, CCNA Exchange MVP 2007 Microsoft Certified Partner |
