Check that the SSL2 protocol is enabled. That checkbox may be in
IE7 Tools-> InternetOptions-> Advanced.

What I have heard was following the merger they merged all customers into
the MNBA system and it has had more problems that were anticipated ahead of
time. I can believe the IE 7 issue.

Just found this thread
I also have the problem with my BOA CC no longer updating using IE 7
I do not know if it is IE or the BOA merger
I downloaded Foxfire and it will work that way

Clinton, I apologize for the way I phrased my comments, but, as you
must know, there are hundreds of different FI's and other businesses
out there. Everyone does their thing as THEY see it best for THEIR
customers. Trying to merge all this into one easy to use package just
doesn't work all the time. I utilize Money to provide me with a
personal finance package I can really use day to day. In order to do
that I have to compromise on some of the automatic stuff in order to
see "real" stuff in Money. I find it really doesn't take me that much
extra time. And I've been doing it for 12 years. The product is well
worth the $25+ I pay each year, but I would be the first to agree that
my "way" is not for everyone. Good luck. Steve

Steve,

Thank you very much for your valuable commentary on my priorities. It's
nice to see that someone has the immeasurable ablity to judge another
person's priorties without the slightest vision of another's daily schedule.

All sarcasm aside. The simple fact remains that Software companies market
their products based on the benefits of simplicity, ease of use, and savings
of time. When an application fails to deliver on those promises the public
should be made aware. Had Microsoft simply stated, prior to purchase, that
'Oh, by the way, you're not going to be able to have Money sync up
automatically with your Bank b/c of recent changes Financial Institutions
have implemented to increase security and all Statements will need to be
manually downloaded until further notice' I'd have been aware upfront. As
opposed to downloading the product and thinking that there was something that
I was doing wrong when I've used these products in the past and know they
have/had the ability to retrieve that information.

Thanks again for the 'spanking'. Just a little word of advise. In the
future, you might want to try to get a little more background about someone
before blatantly accusing someone of not having their priorties in order.

Default RE: Money 2007 and Bank of America Credit Cards

I don't have a BOA account but I have a Washington Mutual Account. I
downloaded MS Money 2007 Deluxe on 03/07/07 and have been trying to set up
the Automatic Online Updates for the past two days. The furtherest I got was
the retrieval of the account numbers and types of accounts. After that I
keep getting a message that the update was unsuccessful due to technical
difficulties with the Bank. After chatting with MS Money Support I was
informed that this was a known issue due to know secuirty measures that banks
have recently put in that requires a second level ID/PW verification process.
I was informed that the Third Party software that makes those calls to the
Financial Institutions is aware of the problem and is working on a
resolution. I asked if consumers would be notified of the fix and was told
they would not be notified. When I asked how consumers would be made aware
that the issue is resovled, was told that I would just have to keep trying
the Automatic Online Update until it worked. This to me defeats the purpose
of having the software. I don't have the time to manully download the
statements everyday into the software. I have since requested a refund and
will no longer be using Money software. If it was a know issue, why in the
world would they deploy the darn thing? Why drop a product and sell it on
the wonderful beneits of automatic updates if the automatic updates doesn't
work? Extremely disappointing.

I too am a MS Money 07 (Premium) user and I have a BOA Checking/Savings/CC
account. And just like you, my CC transactions have not downloaded since
mid-February. Strangely enough, the balance of the credit card is correct as
of today, but it does not download the corresponding transactions. So, if
you're looking for confirmation, there it is. Let me know if a resolution
comes about with all your calls to BOA, or if this rumor is true that
transactions can only be downloaded after a statement is created. Thanks!

On another topic though, have you ever used the 'My Portfolio' feature
within the BOA site? It's a useful feature and with some coaxing could in
ways be much better than MS Money.

I too have always had to manually download credit card statements monthly.

Anyone else getting "#" in front of all the payee names now on their CC
statement.?

I'm an MBNA legacy BOA credit card user. With MBNA (and now BOA), I've only
been able to download actual statements (with their transactions) after they
have been issues. I cannot download current transactions. That's the way
it has always been and I live with it.

That confirmation will be helpful.

I have seen my non-BOA credit card start only providing transactions
after the monthly statement date, and then a few months later switch
back to the nicer more frequent transaction download. Let's hope
that is the case here.

Start-> Run and enter
cmd
into the box or open a command window with your own favorite way.

Enter
netstat
into that window, and note what is there. This is to establish a
baseline of what connections there were before you started your
download. No options/parameters/arguments needed, tho
netstart ?
would give a list of potential options.

Then start a transaction download attempt for the account(s) you
want to check for, and again enter
netstat
into the command window. Note the appearance of some new
entry/entries using https port 446. That would usually show as
":https" after the address.

It is useful to create a shortcut for a command window. You can
change the properties by clicking into the upper left on the grab
bar (I forget the offical name for now) and choosing properties. If
you used a shortcut to open the command window and you change
properties, expect a box to ask if changes should be reflected in
the shortcut, or just for this instance. I like the quick edit and
insert mode to be selected.

Command windows have all kinds of useful things you can do. Ping and
tracert are a couple of them.

I use BofA and Money 2006.

For what it's worth I've never been able to get the Visa info and have to
download it manually from the website. I don't use the card a lot so it has
never really bothered me.

Good suggestion...the SSL2 was not checked, but didn't make a difference.
Remember that my other 3 BOA accounts are working fine...just this BOA
checking account is not working. All 4 are part of a single BOA Online
Services option in Money. The more I've looked at this, the more I'm
thinking it is definitely on their end. Further research shows that my last
downloaded transaction was on 2-14-07, which is also the last transaction for
my statement ending on 2-15-07. Everything from that point on is part of the
current statement, of which no transactions have been downloaded. The last
person at BOA I spoke with said they might be moving to a model where their
Online Services will only allow a the download a single batch of transactions
per statement - in other words, send / receive would only pull down all
transactions after a period had closed and everything would come down in a
single transaction. If that is indeed true, it's kind of a pain since I
liked being able to download transactions daily, which is now their checking
/ savings stuff still works. I was hoping to get some responses from other
BOA / Money 2007 users who may be able to confirm they are getting the same
results that I am.

Just for kicks, I'd love to try your netstat suggestion, but need more
detail. Can you give me more exact syntax / instructions? Thanks in advance
Cal.

While I am not saying IE7 contributes to this problem, it is
involved in the interaction.

Check that the SSL2 protocol is enabled. That checkbox may be in
IE Tools-> InternetOptions-> Advanced.

If that did not do it, I would also consider making the OFX server a
trusted site. I don't know that this would be helpful, but it
shouldn't hurt. netstat in a command window may help figure out the
name of the OFX server.

Default Money 2007 and Bank of America Credit Cards

I've been successfully using Money 2006 (now 2007) and Bank of America Online
services for almost 2 years and have rarely experienced any problems with the
automatic download of all transactions for Checking, Savings, and Credit Card
accounts. On Feb 14, 2007, the BOA credit card info stopped downloading.
This happened last month too and I was able to coax some info from a BOA rep
(who was actually knowledgable about MS Money - wish I still had his name)
that the problem was related to their merger with MBNA and it would be
resolved soon. Sure enough, it started working again. But now it's stopped
again. Nothing has changed on my end. I even deleted the BOA (CA, WA, or
ID) online services from Money and set it all back up again, but still no
luck. BOA support is clueless and is trying to blame IE7 for the problem
(which is lame since IE isn't even part of the interaction between Money and
BOA). Does anyone have any advice on this? Has anyone else experienced this
problem?
