| Thanks to all for your suggestions. It was not a fund that disolved into another, I simply exchanged one (not so good) fund for one that (I hope) will do better, so I suppose there will be tax consequences (of course!!). I don't want to delete the old fund b/c I need to remember what I did down the line. I'll try a sell and buy I guess. thanks again. | ktait, Most of the fund exchanges that I've experienced were "tax free" exchanges. They were executed by the fund family...one fund disolved into another or something to that effect. The exchanges "I" executed of course were taxable buys and sells. If the exchanges were executed by the fund family, DO NOT delete the "old" mutual fund transactions as you will need them to calculate your cost basis when the time comes to sell the "new" shares. Hope this helps some. -Kevin "ktait" <ktait[at]discussions.microsoft.com> wrote in message news:53A086CE-D298-40CA-9BC3-52913DC5DE77[at]microsoft.com... - quote - > I just exchanged one mutual fund for another fund in my and cannot for the > life of me figure out how to make this exchange in Money 2007. | Most fund "exchanges" have tax implications just like a Sell and Buy, no? | I just exchanged one mutual fund for another fund in my and cannot for the life of me figure out how to make this exchange in Money 2007. There doesn't seem to be a way to exchange one fund for another - do I have to "sell" and then "buy" or do a transfer? Add the new fund and then delete the old one? thanks for any assistance. |
