Default Re: two backup files - can I combine them?

That would be difficult, messy, and unlikely to produce satisfactory
results. I don't advise it.

For one thing, if you have investments, the one with transactions 2004 to
current probably has investment transactions predating 2004. Those would be
duplicates of the 02-04 file. Also, the beginning balances of the 04+ file
would reflect the ending balances of 02-04. You'd have to do a lot of
editing.

If you want to take this on, the basic procedure would be to restore 2004,
export all the accounts to QIF. Restore 02-04, then import all the exported
04+ plus accounts. When doing the latter, ctrl-click to multi-select all
the accounts and import them all at one time.

Even when you do that, you won't have amortized loans or other special
account types. You'll have to rebuild those manually.

The whole process will require multiple attempts to figure out what didn't
work, edit that, revise your restore procedure accordingly, then start over
again.

Default two backup files - can I combine them?

I have two backup files that are not syncd - for example, one backup file has
transactions from 2002 to 2004 and then another file has transactions from
2004 to current. I would like to consolidate these two files so that I have
an entire chronilogical file from 2002 to current. Suggestions?
