| I got this to work using your suggestion. Thanks! I had tried that before, but I missed a very important follow-up step. Going to the loan account after setting up the scheduled loan payment, I saw that there were now two of every payment listed. One from the original amortization not hooked up to my checking account, and one from the scheduled bills that was hooked up to my checking account. Unfortunately because there were two of every payment, Money assumed that the new payments were early priciple pay-offs. Deleting the original payments and letting Money recalculate the mortage solved this problem. I also went through the amortization schedule renumbering the payments, so the new payments were listed as the first set of payments not as additional payments after the fact. Thanks again! --Matt "Dick Watson" wrote: - quote - > So, if I follow correctly, you have a loan account and Money automatically > entered loan payments to date for you during the setup process. | I'm a little nervous that backdating the computer clock might screw up other bills/deposits in MS Money. I would have given this a try if I hadn't solved the problem using Dick Watson's suggestion first. Thanks for the suggestion! --Matt "Chris Cowles" wrote: - quote - > Backdate the computer clock. > "Matt" <Matt[at]discussions.microsoft.com> wrote in message > news:269247F3-456A-45D6-8968-2B246B897093[at]microsoft.com... > > Hello all, > > > I'm using Microsoft Money 2005, and I'm having trouble hooking up a loan > > account to my check register. > > > I am a little behind on my financials, and I am trying to set up a fixed > > 30 > > year loan account that began on 12/1/2005. | So, if I follow correctly, you have a loan account and Money automatically entered loan payments to date for you during the setup process. You want a scheduled loan payment for now and the future to do the same but the wizard thought it was smarter than you and wouldn't create that scheduled loan payment. Is that a correct synopsis? If so... Go to the Bills page and create a new Loan Payment:[name of account] by hand. I can't see a reason this shouldn't work. | Hello all, I'm using Microsoft Money 2005, and I'm having trouble hooking up a loan account to my check register. I am a little behind on my financials, and I am trying to set up a fixed 30 year loan account that began on 12/1/2005. I would like it to record all of the transaction details (pricipal, interest, etc.), and I would like all of the payments to entered in my checking account as transfers. I have set the loan up properly. The last screen of the loan creation wizard asked me if I wanted to set up scheduled payments, but it wouldn't let me specify a date before today's date. So all of the loan payments are recorded in my loan account, but are hooked up to my checking account up to my next payment which is properly hooked up. Is there any way to do this? This is very frustrating to me as it seems like this should be an easy thing to do and Money is arbitrarily preventing me from syncing up my checking account with my loan account. --Matt |
