No, that won't work, I am also syncronizing current bank & credit card
accounts and transactions entered in PDA, all of this is interlinked,
and trying to keep two separate files with same accounts will be a
nightmare.

Thanks for the suggestion, though.

Make a copy and work with two files? One is the simple way, entering a
catch-up amount as needed in working accounts. The other, starting from
where you left off. When the second finally catches up to the first, ditch
the first and move all attention to the second. It's now your primary file.

Default Catching up with old 401 k data ?

I stopped managing my Money file, other than simple checking & credit
card reconciliation, when our twins were born. Now, nearly five years
later, I am scratching my head, trying to figure out the best way to
catch up with 401k accounts. We've moved money around, changed funds &
distributions, my wife switched jobs, etc.

I have two goals - first, just get everything up to date as it is now
(I understand this would screw up my cost basis). Second, I would like
to, eventually, go back & enter prior years.

What is the easiest - or best - way to handle the first task, without
screwing up the possibility to finish the second ?

Thanks !
