Unlike Money 2001, Money 2006 requires that the floppies already> upgraded to Money 2006 from Money 2001. Money is set to create a backup > every time I close and I set it to backup to my 3.5" floppy drive. The discs > I have have a capacity of 1.44 MB getting a error saying that there is not > unough space on the disc for the backup. It says multiple disc backup and > then retry or cancel. So I hit rety and can't make a backup. How do I back > up on multiple discs? Any help would be appreciaterd. have enough unused space. So you will have to format or delete the contents of the floppies before use for backing up. A much better way to back up is to use a USB flash drive. You will still have to delete some files on occasion. Money will make unique backup files, so you will need to delete the older files to create space. I suggest a USB flash drive of at least 256 MB capacity. 1 GB (1000 MB) drives are probably the sweet spot, and they are often on sale. I see a 2 GB drive advertised for $28, on a limit 1 sale. That is an unusually good price. Many people have stopped using their once-treasured 64, 128 and 256 MB units after getting a bigger unit. Even a 64 MB would do the job nicely if it was a hand-me-down. ============================================ 2006 suggested backup procedure Money 2006 introduces a useful multiple backup file feature. In M06: Tools-> Settings-> BackupSettings I suggest checking x Automatically backup my Money file every time I close Money Save in [a place on your hard drive ] x Ask me before backing up each time* x Compress Backup Files Keep only the _20_most recent backup files [adjust to taste] x Perform scheduled backups every _14_ days Save in [a USB flash drive location] x Ask me before backing up each time* x Compress Backup Files Keep only the _2_most recent backup files [adjust to taste, but Money 2006 does not automatically trim to USB as it should] Then periodically, perhaps once per month or more, copy your latest backup (uniquely named by Money) to a CDR. With XP, this can be a copy and paste operation. Otherwise use the burning software that came with your CDR drive. I strongly suggest use of a USB Flash drive rather than floppies. They are bigger, so you don't have to swap media to back up. Plus they are much more reliable (but not failure-proof). * The reason I have Money ask me, is that I don't want to back up each time I exit. If I went into Money 5 times in a day, I would not want to back up 5 times, nor would I want to delete 5 other backup files. You will be given the choice to BackUpNow or to Postpone. |

| Hi Hope somebody can help me I am runnning an old PC with Windows 98 and upgraded to Money 2006 from Money 2001. Money is set to create a backup every time I close and I set it to backup to my 3.5" floppy drive. The discs I have have a capacity of 1.44 MB getting a error saying that there is not unough space on the disc for the backup. It says multiple disc backup and then retry or cancel. So I hit rety and can't make a backup. How do I back up on multiple discs? Any help would be appreciaterd. Kaja |
