| The split status is universal and assumed to have applied to all transactions ("already entered") So, if you enter older transactions after the split is already in the price history list, Money will assume that the transactions have 'post-split' numbers. (i.e. you've already adjusted for the splits). Therefore options include: 1. enter all transactions with the post split info. 2. remove the splits from the price history (this will revert the "s" priced transactions to their pre-split values), enter all of the pre-split transactions for ALL accounts, THEN enter the split in the price history. -Mark "JRGraves" <jrgraves[at]knology.net> wrote in message news:uNHrRz1WHHA.480[at]TK2MSFTNGP02.phx.gbl... - quote - > > > I deleted my Microsoft entry in my regular account and re-created it > > > using > > > the dropdown list and have the same results, the splits in the new > > > account > > > created from the dropdown list still do not work. How do I get it to adjust for the splits in this second > account???? Do I need to start over and enter all the transactions in both > accounts without the splits and then enter the splits in one account for it > to work???? you enter a Buy for 100 MSFT dated 1/1/2003, it will result in you holding 200 shares in the account today. The Price for that 1/1/2003 transaction in the register would have an 's' after it to indicate it had been adjusted for at least one split. If you entered a Buy for 100 MSFT dated 3/3/2003, it would account for 100 shares in your account today. There would be no 's' on the price for that later transaction. The splits apply to all holdings of the stock on the specified date. Even if you deleted all transactions of a stock, that does not delete the splits. A holding new buy transactions for a pre-split date will be affected by the later-dated split. To see the split history for a stock, go to the investment details for the stock. UpdatePrices-> UpdatePricesManually. Look through the table and find the entries in the Source column that say "Stock Split". If is one that should not be there, you can Delete it. |

I have my MSFT stock entered in my IRA acct with the splits on the given dates (10 transactions and 4 splits). I just deleted MSFT in my regular account and re-entered it like you indicated without trying to enter any splits (10 transactions and 6 splits). This results in 704 shares and not 13,796 as it should with the splits. I have saved the file, closed Money and started it again and it still shows the 704 shares with no adjustments. How do I get it to adjust for the splits in this second account???? Do I need to start over and enter all the transactions in both accounts without the splits and then enter the splits in one account for it to work???? Thanks, Jim G. |

Stock splits apply to the stock rather than to an account. You buy 100 shares of XYZ in the regular investment account, and then buy 200 shares of XYZ in the IRA. You enter a 3:2 split for XYZ. Right away you have 150 shares of XYZ in the regular investment account, and 300 shares of XYZ in the IRA. If you again enter a 3:2 split for XYZ again for the same date, neither account will change. |

It says "There is already a 3 for 2 split on that date. Do you want to replace it?" When I click on "OK" the split has no effect on the new (regular) account. Do I need to uninstall and reinstall Money 2007 for this to work?? Thanks, Jim G. |

| I am also having problems with Money Deluxe 2007 Portfolio Manager. I have my regular stock account and also my IRA stock account. When I enter a stock, such as Intel into my regular account, I have no problems. But then when I go to enter the same stock, ie Intel, into my IRA account, it will not recognize the stock splits. It says the split already exists and when I click OK the split is not recognized. I have the same problem whenever I have the same stocks in more than one account. Does anyone know how to solve this problem. I have the latest updates (SP2) in Money and am using XP Pro SP2. Any help will be greatly appreciated. I am so frustrated that I am about ready to go and buy Quicken!! Please help... | Glad I could help. How this is supposed to work is not obvious to many people the first time they get there. That's why it's a FAQ. "John Barnes" <jbarnes[at]email.net> wrote in message news:OTTheBrTHHA.4744[at]TK2MSFTNGP02.phx.gbl... - quote - > Thanks |

| I have several investments that need to be listed several times in several categories. I need one fund name and symbol included in 3 categories, one in my IRA, one in my non IRA investments and one in my wife's IRA. Money will not let me use the same fund name and/or symbol in more than one category. Says already in use in both cases. I now have them named differently and have no symbols, so have to update the others manually. This partially makes the investments section a pain and somewhat useless. |
