What *.mbf or *.mny files do you have? Only one *.mbf file? If so,
things don't look good. If you had a *.mny file, you could try using
salv.exe to repair the file. Unfortunately, that does not work on
*.mbf files.

Do you have access to the hard drive from the Windows XP Sony Vaio
laptop? Perhaps that has a *.mbf or *.mny file on it that is not too
old.

The Acer crashed. Then what. Did you format that drive before
copying the contents to another drive? There are kits that can
connect a laptop drive to another computer that can be useful to let
you copy off the old files.

Default Money 2000 backup

Hi all, hoping you can help. I have been using Money 2000 since it was
launched and have built-up quite a file of information. I ran it on a Windows
98 desktop PC, then transferred it to a Windows XP Sony Vaio laptop, and have
recently transferred it to a Windows XP Acer laptop. It has been running
perfectly well, until three days ago when my computer crashed. Since then I
have not been able to open Money 2000 properly and restore my backup file. I
have reinstalled the software and I can open Money 2000 and create new
accounts etc. and run it as normal. Also, I can open Money 2000 on my old
Sony laptop AND restore my backup information AND run the program just as I
always could. BUT, I cannot open an run Money 2000 on my Acer laptop as I
used to be able to. Every time I try I receive an error message 'Microsoft
Money has encountered a problem and has to close'. I've sent about 100 error
messages but haven't had any feedback from Microsoft. Please help...
