| I have the same problem in Vista with my 2005.mny file located on my network. "Money cannot locate c:\path of the file or cannot open it, possibly because it is a read only file or you don't have permission to change it or the disk drive is write protected." Bob you mean that if I copy the file on my local drive I can use Money 2005 on vista without the above error message?? I'm asking because I uninstalled Money with a lot of disappointment. | There are several big patches that you need to download on the Vista PC before M2005 will read your non-Vista file (by the way much better to just copy the .mny file to the Vista PC). On the Vista PC find the sample.mny file, double click on it and you should then be told that there is an up date to download. Once that has completed you will be able to read the non-Vista PC file. -- Regards Bob Peel, Microsoft MVP - Money For UK tips & fixes see http://support.microsoft.com/default...d=fh;EN-GB;mny. I do not respond to any emails that I have not specifically asked for. | I have recently upgraded from XP professional to Vista. I was using Money 2005 and made a bacup thinking I could open it in Vista. I installed Vista then Money 2005 and tried to open my back up (located in my odcuments) file, so far so good. Money then told me it would have to convert the file so that I could work with it in money and then that it would upgrade my file to money. Anyway I pressed next and it come up with a message saying: Money cannot locate c:\path of the file or cannot open it, possibly because it is a read only file or you don't have permission to change it or the disk drive is write protected. Press ok to that message and comes back to the message saying it is going to convert my file. Help Anyone? I have years of data I don't want to loose. They are both Microsoft products, how hard can it be. |
