| I do as well. I always take a manual backup. I don't even bother with an automatic backup anymore (as more often than not it causes problems especially when you're trying to apply an update). | I'm still wondering if it's some type of permissions issue. So you might try copying it into My Documents directly and launch from there. You might also want to see if it is specific to that file or to your Windows profile. Does a New Money file behave the same way? If you sign into Windows as a different user (try one with Admin rights) does it behave the same way. -Mark "Terry Franklin" <TerryFranklin[at]discussions.microsoft.com> wrote in message news:C4BEB2F6-AAC6-429D-8928-FDC57ACF4C07[at]microsoft.com... - quote - > It's a subdirectory under My Documents. > "Mark" wrote: > > Where specifically is this "folder where [i] keep [my] .mny file"? > > Is it in My Documents or some other "non-standard" location which might > > have > > different file access rights? > > > If it is not in My Documents, and if you copy it there and open that > > file, > > does it behave the same way? > > > -Mark > > > > "Terry Franklin" <TerryFranklin[at]discussions.microsoft.com> wrote in > > message > > news:3658113B-128F-4330-A7D2-735B8C9D903A[at]microsoft.com... > > > I renamed to to "~of728.mny" and it opened just fine. > > > > > I'm very curious as to what could be renaming it to this > > > <gibberish> .tmp > > > name... > > > > > "Michael Gordon" wrote: > > > > > > What happens if you rename the .tmp file to .mny? > > > > > > > -- > > > > Michael Gordon > > > > > > > > > > "Terry Franklin" <TerryFranklin[at]discussions.microsoft.com> wrote in > > > > message > > > > news:A3C8F7FB-EA04-44B4-91C7-6F4DE46DA58B[at]microsoft.com... > > > > > Hello, > > > > > > > > > Recently, on a couple different occasions, I've gone to start > > > > > Microsoft > > > > > Money 2006 Premium on XP SP 2 only to have MS Money tell me the file > > > > > I'm > > > > > trying to open is gone. > > > > > > > > > I open the folder where I keep my .mny file and it is indeed gone, > > > > > replaced > > > > > by a file of the same size with a .tmp extension. | Where specifically is this "folder where [i] keep [my] .mny file"? Is it in My Documents or some other "non-standard" location which might have different file access rights? If it is not in My Documents, and if you copy it there and open that file, does it behave the same way? -Mark "Terry Franklin" <TerryFranklin[at]discussions.microsoft.com> wrote in message news:3658113B-128F-4330-A7D2-735B8C9D903A[at]microsoft.com... - quote - > I renamed to to "~of728.mny" and it opened just fine. > I'm very curious as to what could be renaming it to this <gibberish> .tmp > name... > "Michael Gordon" wrote: > > What happens if you rename the .tmp file to .mny? > > > -- > > Michael Gordon > > > > "Terry Franklin" <TerryFranklin[at]discussions.microsoft.com> wrote in > > message > > news:A3C8F7FB-EA04-44B4-91C7-6F4DE46DA58B[at]microsoft.com... > > > Hello, > > > > > Recently, on a couple different occasions, I've gone to start Microsoft > > > Money 2006 Premium on XP SP 2 only to have MS Money tell me the file > > > I'm > > > trying to open is gone. > > > > > I open the folder where I keep my .mny file and it is indeed gone, > > > replaced > > > by a file of the same size with a .tmp extension. | Hello, Recently, on a couple different occasions, I've gone to start Microsoft Money 2006 Premium on XP SP 2 only to have MS Money tell me the file I'm trying to open is gone. I open the folder where I keep my .mny file and it is indeed gone, replaced by a file of the same size with a .tmp extension. Each time, this has happened around 3am. I do not have anything scheduled that I know of at 3am. Each time, I have been able to just restore my .mny file from my backups and have it work fine. Any idea what could be renaming my file like this? The main change over the last few weeks is the upgrade to Windows Onecare Live 1.5. |
