Consider your belief confirmed, Jezebel. As long as you're using the same
localized version (probably United States) there shouldn't be any problems
or headaches.

Thank you everyone for your input. I've got it all figured out now, but I
want to clarify. My assumption is this, please correct me if I'm wrong.... I
can purchase Money 2007 Deluxe, install it (problem free) on my new computer
running Windows Vista, AND import my data from Microsoft Money 2000 Standard
Edition. No problems, no headaches, right? Please comfirm my beliefs.
Thank you.

Where "buy it cheap" refers to M07 Deluxe and "it won't import" refers to
Money Essentials (MEss).

Don't waste your time on Essentials. Go to Sam's or an office discount
store and buy it cheap. It won't import your old data, anyway.

Cold. 100% True. But cold.

Money Essentials is not a useful product, nor will it accept data from
earlier versions of Money. It may be included with your new computer, but
it has no value.

If you want to use your current data (as I assume you do) you have three
choices:
* If you have a retail (not OEM) version of Money 2000, you
(probably--perhaps it won't work with Vista) can load it on your new
computer.
* You can can buy on E-bay or similar site a copy of Money 2000-2006. It
will convert your Money 2000 file (again, there is no guarantee that it will
work with Vista, especially 2000-2005)
* You can buy a retail copy of M2007 Deluxe or Premium (not Essential) which
will convert your Money 2000 file. This is the best (but most expensive)
solution.

Default Microsoft Money 2000 and Microsoft Money Essentials

I just purchased a new computer with Microsoft Vista and Microsoft Money
Essentials. I have been using Microsoft Money 2000 on my old computer
running WindowsXP. I backed it up on a thumbdrive and tried to transfer my
files (years of my financial history) to the Microsoft Money Essentials that
was installed on my new computer, but the message I get is: "Money Essentials
is unable to open files from other versions of Money."

Does anyone have a suggestion for how I can download my financial
information from the old program to the new program?

Thank you
