OK. I understand what you are trying to achieve.> so that certain payees went into specific categories. Money remembers the last category you used for a Payee, and presents that as an initial guess as the category this time. You can have Money automatically present the drop-down list to select a different category if you like. Tools-> Settings-> AccountSettings(global)-> AutomaticallyDropDownCategoryAndPayeeListsWhen.... To work around this for a particular payee, you could add Wells Fargo to your "Excluded payee names" at Banking-> AccountTools-> Categories&Payees-> Payees-> GoToPayeeRulesManager and see if that helps you. I thought there might be a setting that says to not fill in the previous category, but I don't find that. - quote - > In most Microsoft applications somewhere within the app there is the ability
You said that before. I remain skeptical of that statement.> to restore the application to the default settings as they existed when the > app was first installed. In Money, the Payee/Category associations are in the Money file. File-> New-> NewFile would let you start over, but that would start without your transactions, accounts, etc. - quote - > In this case that would probably be the simplest > thing for me to do. > I searched the help files and the only thing I could see that might work was > to log into My Money at MSN and remove the account. | Carl, A couple of years ago I had run an older version of Money and had set it up so that certain payees went into specific categories. For example anything that went to Wells Fargo was automatically assigned to the Automobile Payment category. I want to remove those assingments. In most Microsoft applications somewhere within the app there is the ability to restore the application to the default settings as they existed when the app was first installed. In this case that would probably be the simplest thing for me to do. I searched the help files and the only thing I could see that might work was to log into My Money at MSN and remove the account. I've tried that but when I add my bank account Money still assigns those categories to my transactions. Thanks for your help. It is unclear what you are asking for. Pulling all the category> when Money was initially installed? I had an older version at one time and it > keeps pulling all the category assignments off of the online site and I want > to get rid of that. assignments off of *what* online site-- you mean your bank? Are you just trying to restore the original categories? - quote - > If this can't be done why not? It is a feature available in almost any other
How would you do what you ask in Excel or Notepad?> program MS has written. |

| Is there any way to reset Money 2007 to the default settings as they were when Money was initially installed? I had an older version at one time and it keeps pulling all the category assignments off of the online site and I want to get rid of that. If this can't be done why not? It is a feature available in almost any other program MS has written. TIA |
