| I have had the same problem with 2007 update and have been through 5 chat tech support people and 1 telephone person. No cigar. Nothing works. Not clean boot, bypassing my router, cleaning out IE, deleting registry Money stuff and reinstalling, nothing! I agree with the jkerouac. I install stuff all the time with this system. I upgrade stuff all the time. I have run 2005 Money since it was released. No problems. Just this update, which has me pretty much dead in the water since it nuked my 2005 when it installed itself. Now I am in limbo. They have a serious problem here that apparently affects only a few of us, but it's like having a rare cancer. It's not much of a problem ... unless you have it! | Well I found out that I had Money 2006 that I had forgotten about that I got free with TaxCut last year. I installed that and it had issues and I had to run some registry permissions something or other I found online. Then it installed fine and I'm up and running. Thanks |

| I have a similar problem with Money 2007, but in my case it would download the support files and then told me that the update failed. I tried installing the updates several times, including all of the advice in the following support article: http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx/kb/895866 . The same thing kept happening. This morning I decided to try the update after logging on in Safe Mode with Networking. This time the update worked. I now have version 1303, which is supposed to be the most current release. Ironically, when I log back on with my regular account and launch Money, it doesn't recognize that the SP1 and SP2 updates have already been installed. Instead it wants me to repeat the entire download and update process.....which fails. But if I cancel the update and simply launch Money, a glance at the About screen confirms that I am running build 1303. So this is my suggestion to Mr B -- try to complete the update using Safe Mode with Networking. Good luck, And to Cal and the other MVPs, please pass on to MS program management that the setup and update process for Money is awful, the worst among MS products that I have installed in a long time, Cheers all. | Was just coming back to post an update. Here's what else I've tried with no avail... Created a new Admin user. Logged on with that user. Opened Money, made a new file, etc. GOt the same prompt I alays get. Clicked Yes. It sat there like it always does. No luck. Unisntalled Money. Created yet another Admin account. Logged in as this new user. Installed money as this user. Opened money. Went through the setup, decline, etc. Got the standard prompt, click Yes, got the window and it sat there. I'm pretty much out of ideas other than wiping this computer and starting over which I don't think I want to do. Argh. Oh, and I do have ZA set to prompt me and I always click Yes for Money. All these tests were done with ZA completely shut down. Obviosuly Money si seeing the update because it knows there is one to download, it jsut doesn't go get it once I click Yes. |

Include the Local Intranet zone in the reset-to-default, as well as> didn't help. the Advanced tab. What I would do is to create a new Administrative user, open Money as that user, and create a new Money file as that user. Select Decline to not add a Passport/LiveID. Select to use no password. - quote - > Each time I open Money I get a "Update available, download now?" Message and > I click Yes. - quote - > Then I get the following:

Sample.mny in the install folder as your normal Admin user, I would try that. Also, while you are thinking about it, write down your serial number from Help-> About in case you want to contact Microsoft support. |

Admin Yes Zone Alarm but Money has full access and I've also tried with shutting ZA down completely IE6 installed but normally use FF. I did set IE to default as a test but it didn't help. Each time I open Money I get a "Update available, download now?" Message and I click Yes. Then I get the following: To serve you better, we need to update Microsoft Money 2005. An update is being downloaded and installed now. Please wait while we prepare to download. I let it sit for 2 hours and it didn't do anything. I guess I'll try unisntalling and deleting the folder from Prog Files and trying again. |

I've already tried that. I've made a new money file and tried opening the> Money 2005 create a new Money file, clicking Decline in the > process. It will do an update. Close Money. I followed the steps I found on the support site somewhere. I get the prompt that an update is available but when I click YES to downlaod it, it just sits there saying "Please wait..." and it never does anything. I have Money on my old PC, would it work to just copy the program files folder from that PC to this one or do some of the updates get put in other folders? I don't know what it's not going through as I can get online just fien with everything else. The version I have in Help/About is 14.0.80.728 Thanks. |

It will do an update. Close Money. Then open Money and check that Help-> About... says you then have version 14.0.*.1105. Then you should be able to open or restore your existing files. |

| Just installed Money 2005 on my new PC but it won't go online and download it's updates. I get a pop-up telling me updates are available and asking if I want to download them. I click Yes and get a box that says Please wait while we prepare to download. Then it just sits there and does nothing at all. I have no internet activity or anything. If I click No and open the program, I can do the ONline Updates for stocks and such just fine, I just can't get the actual program update. Is this available somewhere I can download it manually or anything like that? Or any suggestions? I already tried making a new file, using a different admin account, etc and it doesn't help. Thanks! |
