Default Re: Money 2007 - OFX file import does nothing

Well, I've solved (kinda) it another way.
I imported those oif files from creditcards to the program on my PDA, and
all the transactions have finally appeared - when PDA synched to PC - those
transactions appeared to MS Money too. I told you it is not how MSMoney shows
the account on screen - it was that MSMoney doesn't work with creditcards
accounts properly. For some reason...
And by doing the programm 100% built on internet MS limits the area of
progrmm distribution - I don't need a program that will eat tonns of my
trafic since I pay Internet on per-megabyte basis - so it is foolishness to
build a programm that way. Briefly - lately MSMoney became a crap! Yak[at]!

I am wondering when you say there are no transactions showing in the
register, do you mean there are no transactions showing in the
register? Not from last month or last year? Make sure
the register is set for
View:AllTransactionsCoveringAllDates,SortedByDate( Increasing)

If you mean there are no *new* transactions, try this:

In Internet Explorer delete your browser temporary files with
Tools-> InternetOptions-> DeleteFiles or
Tools-> InternetOptions-> Delete-> DeleteFiles.

Then in Money do File-> RepairMoneyFile-> QuickFileRepair again.

Go to Tools-> Settings-> OnlineServiceSetting and
select ShowStandardizedPayeeNamesForWhichANameIsNotFound.

Download again.

Default Re: Money 2007 - OFX file import does nothing

Well, I tried "DisplayAllAccountsITheAdvancedAccountRegister " turned on - it
doesn't help. Yeah, it shows me how many transactions I have to read on both
CreditCard acounts, but when I go into account - there's nothing to read,
just the summ total how much I owe.
Again even thrid party software on PDA, when reads from MSMoney shows this
account without transactions - so it is not the issue of how Does MSMoney
formats information before showing on my screen - it is the issue of how
MSMoney imports the file! I opened the file in a notepad - all thansactions
are there!

On the account list, does it show you have transactions to read?

See if setting
Tools-> Settings-> AccountSettings(global)-> DisplayAllAccountsITheAdvancedAccountRegister
helps.

Default Re: Money 2007 - OFX file import does nothing

I've got the same problemwith WellsFargo accounts. I used to have MSMoney
2004, lost it, now got version 2006Deluxe. Download "Microsoft® Money 2002 or
later" file from WF site for my Checking account - everything works fine -
all the transactions are there. Download the same kind of file for Credit
card with WF and with Cibibank - it will say "Import complete" will show me
how much I owe, but I can't see ANY transactions even though I know I did
quite a few resently. So, it seems to me that Money 2006 and on deals with
credit card acounts differntly (since checking account import works fine...)
FIY - I have a PDA software that reads from MSMoney on laptop, but is not
made by MS - on PDA accounts are empty too - so it is not the way MSMoney
shows the account - there's someth wrong with the way it imports information
on credit card statemnts (so to say)...

JT, did you ever resolve your issue? I have the same problem with my DFCU
accounts.

Thanks

I said " And if you do that [download from the bank's website], I
would expect it would in fact be OFX. If you have Money set it up
[for online access], it won't be." What I mean is that for your
bank, if you have Money do the access via "third party", then the
protocol used will not be OFX.

To achieve that, you could disable that institution for Online
access within Money. You could stop there, or you could then set
the account up again, but tell Money that your bank is not on the
list.

Sorry, I don't understand what you mean when you say, "If you have Money set
it up".

Yes, it was very reliable in Money 2003, and I'm not trying to do anything
new or different in 2007. I'm simply trying to get Money 2007 to do the
"import" like 2003 did.

And if you do that, I would expect it would in fact be OFX. If you
have Money set it up, it won't be. It will be a different protocol
that I am not able to help debug.

You really would not have to set up the account for online services
if you plan to get the OFX files via web access. Downloading OFX via
a web interface is not so convenient, but it tends to be very
reliable.

I usually download the file from their web site (their third-party's site).
The file is always named EXPORT.OFX. I guess I just assumed it was an OFX
file.

From the link you referenced:

Additional Information and Services
------------------------------------------------ Statements

Direct Services* are the fastest, easiest way to connect with your financial
institution and have your statements automatically downloaded into Money.

* This service is provided by a third party provider, not your financial
instituition. It is only available if you have Microsoft Money 2005 or later.
You will need to use Microsoft .NET Passport in order to access your account
information.

Your financial institution may offer an alternative means of downloading
statements and transactions from their web site into Microsoft Money 2004 and
earlier. Please contact them for more information.
=============== End ===============================

In a previous post, maybe you didn't see it, I noted:

Two other things are strange with this version of Money: 1) If I go to
Banking-> ManageOnlineServices, the 'Services' column for the DFCU account
says 'None', where the column for some other accounts say 'Online updates',
or 'File download'. 2) If I click on 'Check for new online services' in the
'To Do' column, and select a 'Banking' account type and hit 'Next', the next
screen that appears (Select a bank or brokerage), has a warning in the middle
of it, 'To set up new accounts, you must be singed in with your Windows Live
ID', and a hyperlink that says 'Sign in with your Windows Live ID'. If I
click on the hyperlink and click 'Yes' on the dialog box that asks if I want
to leave the page, I get a screen titled, 'Sign in to receive your online
updates'. My Windows Live ID email address is already entered and grayed-out
so that I cannot change it. I type my Windows Live ID password in the
Password text edit and hit 'Sign In', I get a pop-up saying, 'The sign-in
attempt for <my email address> was unsuccessful. Please try again.' I can try
and try again, but can't "log in".

Any idea why (or is it part of my problem that) the DFCU account comes up as
'None' for Services on the 'Manage online services' page? Any idea how I can
get it configured for 'File imports'?

Thanks -- JT

Same.

In fact, you may not need a Windows LiveID/Passport on the file. If
your institution has OFX interface, then it is not needed.

You stated you were importing an OFX file. Perhaps you are not?
http://www.microsoft.com/money/bankonline.aspx

If the term "third party" is in the description, there is screen
scraping with a different system than OFX, and you do need the
LiveID/Passport. In that case, there can be some delay or more.

If it says "web" then you download via a web site of the
institution.

If it says Direct without using the term "third party", it is the
more desirable direct direct access to an OFX server provided by
your financial institution.

Also, is a Windows Live ID the same as the .NET password stuff used by Money
2003? I've just been using my old .NET sign in for Money 2007. Do I need to
go sign up for a new Windows Live ID account? I tried a day or two ago using
my .NET email address, and the Windows Live ID site said that email address
was already in use... My .NET username/password seems to work OK to get me
onto this forum...

Thank you very much for the replies, Cal, they are very much appreciated.

There are 14 transactions I can see on the web site that I expect to be
imported.

I started from scratch and performed all of the things you suggested since
your first reply, in order, and then went to the DFCU web site and tried to
export/import the OFX file -- still no luck.

Is it possible that there is no new transaction since you last
downloaded from your credit union? Money 2007 automatically checks
to see if the transactions from an OFX download have been seen
before.

I would also go to Tools-> Settings-> OnlineServiceSetting and
select ShowStandardizedPayeeNamesForWhichANameIsNotFound. This
appears to be a global (inter-file) setting. However I don't expect
that to be a cure for the symptoms you describe.

In Internet Explorer delete your browser temporary files with
Tools-> InternetOptions-> DeleteFiles or
Tools-> InternetOptions-> Delete-> DeleteFiles.

Then in Money do File-> RepairMoneyFile-> QuickFileRepair.

In the AccountList, does it say TransactionsToRead in the ToReview
column for the account? If so, left-click that.

Default Money 2007 - OFX file import does nothing

I just upgraded from Money 2003 to 2007. Now when I go to my Credit Union
(Dearborn FCU) and download an OFX file (like I used to in 2003), a dialog
box pops up and says "Import Completed", but none of the transactions show in
the Account register!

Please help! Thanks.
